Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have finnaly gotten the urge to take the plunge with Tau. I wanted a shooty force to counterbalance my very HTH marines. The only issue that I have with the TAU is that I dont like the look of them unhelmeted. They just, well, are not that impressive. They just dont look alien enough.

I have thought about buying a Kroot boxed set and using unhelmeted Kroot heads on top of my Tau bodies. I find the Kroot to be much more like the Preditors of old and much more interesting of figures.

Has anyone here thought of doing this? Any feelings? Feeback?

I have converted a Kroot shaper by using a Fire Warrior torso, part of the Fire Warrior legs, and a lot of green stuff to lengthen the body. I think it looks pretty good. Kroot are a lot taller than Fire Warriors, though, and their limbs are shaped differently. So it may look a little odd if you just stick the heads on regular Fire Warrior bodies. Another option is to use Lizardmen or Beastmen from Fantasy, and consider them as another ally of the Tau. Shas'el Tael did a number of conversions along those lines.

i agree with the heads, i leave thier ugly faces hidden in their pretty helmets....
i would consider using something more proportional to tau than a kroot head...
or maybe something completely different...
