Forgeworld is a site that makes resin models that can be used in GW games. www.forgeworld.co.uk is the link. You can buy the Tetras there.

normal ones can all be played in any GW games, whereas ForgeWorld are basically 'custom made' models that aren't all official to be played in games, but can be for house rules and such.

They're some very stunning models and can provide you with some great army choices. Just browse the site and some of the rules and see how you like.

In the past, Forge World generally made models that were significantly larger than typical 40k units.* Many of these were introduced in another game called Epic (or Space Marine or Titan Legions).* These games were played at a different scale, with smaller miniatures but larger armies.* There were a number of units unique to these games, such as Super-Heavy tanks, Titans, giant Tyranids, Ork Gargants, etc.* Forge World was dedicated to producing these super-powerful units in 40k scale.* Their original Eldar Titans were several feet tall.* They always used resin rather than metal or plastic, which kept them moderately affordable but meant that they had less detail.* More recently, advances in the way they mold resin have led to far greater detail, and they have begun making smaller models like the Tetras and Piranha, Battlefleet Gothic ships, Space Marine accessories, etc.

Don't browse ForgeWorld too much though, don't want to get too much drool on your keyboard.

About a 200% difference in price.

Tetras IMO suck; I love the models but they're WAY over-priced point-wise. 60 points for a poorly armed landspeeder? No thanks. I wish GW would get off its butt and offer some sort of real FA option for the tau list: I think a landspeeder (hell, if the Piranha were an official, FA option I would be happy) type unit would fit the army well and fill in a much needed spot.
