Default 1275p Special Raid Mission

I 4 hours or so I will play a specially written Raid scenario at 1275p against Saim-Hann. I will be the defender and the scenario is basically that I have to defend 2-4 objective markers from being destroyed in close combat. Sentries are used and the whole battle is in night fight. I have made an army list but it might need some last changes. Anyway this is what I'm planning to use:

1 Commander Shas'o (HQ) @ 257 Pts
Burst Cannon; Missile Pod; Multi-Tracker; Hard-wired blacksun filter
1 Bodyguard @ [140] Pts
Burst Cannon; Missile Pod; Multi-Tracker; Hard-wired blacksun filter
1 Bodyguard #1 @ [68] Pts
Flamer; Missile Pod; Multi-Tracker; Hard-wired blacksun filter [3]
Bonded

I usually never play bodyguard but I needed Stealth Suits for my single elite choice and still needed some crisis.

6 Stealth Team (Elites) @ 190 Pts
Bonded

11 Fire Warriors (Troops) @ 225 Pts
Pulse Rifle (x11); Bonded
1 Shas'ui
Pulse Rifle
1 Devilfish Dropship
Decoy Launcher

11 Fire Warriors (Troops) @ 225 Pts
Pulse Rifle (x11); Bonded
1 Shas'ui
Pulse Rifle
1 Devilfish Dropship
Decoy Launcher

20 Kroot Carnivores (Troops) @ 208 Pts
3 Kroot Hounds
1 Krootox

The Ox and Hounds are actually there to fill the last points. This unit will be objective guarding and could use some more wounds than the standard 20.

1 Hammerhead Gunship (Heavy Support) @ 170 Pts
Railgun; Two Burst Cannons
Decoy Launcher
Multi-tracker
Blacksun Filter

Total Army Cost: 1275

I feel quite confident about this battle, I should win but with those damn Saim-Hann you never know. They outpower us in mobility and I'm not used to that. Good thing is the sentries since he won't be able to move in any bikes or jetbikes without sounding the alarm. I'm expecting some rangers and scorpions here..

Any last minute advices?

Whoa, whoa whoa. I'm glad I found this. that list needs some serious changes.

First, take off at least one of the bodyguards,

NEVER take a Krootox!

If you have another HH, definately take it!

Then, use your mobile forces to move in and block them from getting around you, Use your Suits to cause as much confusion as possible to make sure they can't get around your mobile forces. Leave your 2 HH's at the objectives quarter and take out as many of them as you can while your mobile forces and suits hold them off.

Tanks don't do well blocking troops from charging and I can tell you, as the battle already beeing fought, that I needed those 3 crisis and the 6 Stealth. You know about Raid Force Organisation Chart don't you. The Ox was there for fun - I never field them normally but just in case anyone wondered - it shot a Wawe Serpent to pieces today with a lucky glancing 5.
I won with 2231 Vp to 404. Victorious Slaughter!

Well, good luck to you. But, I wouldn't count on that Ox now

As I said - The battle I used this list for is already played and I won't be using an Ox again for long, I promise.

well done aun dolf, maybe give us a battle report in the appropriate board if you have time? i like the list you took personally. The krootox to me seemed a nice way to fill the points and i suppose you can't really criticise it till youve played with it! Not everyone plays with the altered FoC, maybe thats why butter roll was confused, to me that army list looked great considering the opponent however one railgun may have been quesitonable before the battle...but i suppose that depends on the volume of WS's and flacons fielded by saim han, anyway seems as if that list served you well ;D!

Actually the one Hammerhead arrived late because of bad reserves rolls and only fired one shot (which it missed!) during the game. My HQ, Kroot and Stealthsuits did all the work this time.

And I was wrong about the Jetbikes not being able to move in without sounding the alarm. He really scared me there with one Wild Rider Chief with Kinsmen and one Shining Spears unit runshing in. Luckily he didn't bring any snipers to take out my sentries - He instead made a mistake and charged them, sounding the alarm.

In addition to the bikes he fielded two Vypers, one foot unit of Howling Banshees, one Fire Prism and one Wave Serpent with Guardians. Everything eradicated and he only got one Devilfish, some Kroot and destroyed only 1 out of 4 objective markers.

Since I don't remember all of the battle there will be no more battle report this time and I hope you have patience with the few lines above. Well, the game is over and this topic can be closed if you want to.
