Default Is the XV88-2 worth buying?

i am thinking about getting a XV88-2 from forgeworld is it worth it or should i just play with converting a broadside

chek out the link if you like
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/xv88-2.htm
its got rail rilfles and smart missles

i do want to get at least one forge world mech so if you have a better idea tell me you can look at all the mechs here

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog...TTLESUITS.html

one last question if i do get a forgeworld model is there anyway i can obtain the book for it cheaper than forgeworld prices because those models are expencive on their own

If you can reall afford it, go with FW, but I find you can purchase 2 or more XV-88s and convert them yourself for the same cost...same with any FW suits. I would rather convert my own suits and have money for more, than but the FW stuff.

I'm a huge fan of forgeworld Broadsides over the regular ones. They offer way more in the feel that they deserve to be what they are, rather than a Crisis suit that gets a larger backpack.

Otherwise, if you can afford it, I whole-heartedly suggest getting at least one of the other Crisis suits to play commander for your force. They're a nice contrast, and again give the feel of actually deserving their rank.

You need to be ready to work with resin, and any of the flaws that may come with it (These reports seem to vary greatly, but for the most part the models are fine. I know that most people aren't familiar with the substance right away, so a bit of research on how to deal with it is a good idea as well.

I'd tell you more, but I'm strapped for time. Enjoy!

All the Tau models that the Forge World built, are very cool.
The XV88-2 with missle pods are better than with plasma, if I had to choose one I'll probably buy Shas'o R'myr's personal Battlesuit, not only because the armor is one of the best I ever seen but also for the ability of the model (go and see on Imperial Armour page 174).

Most of the FW battlesuits are pretty poor weapon configs. Having said that I do like the XV81 CRISIS BATTLESUIT, XV84 CRISIS BATTLESUIT and XV89 CRISIS BATTLESUIT but only because you can chose the weapons an they give more options for you to use. Personally I like the GW broadside models better than the FW ones.

I just cut off the missile 'hands' of my regular broadsides, slapped them on the shoulders, then put the railguns on the hands like normal attachments... and it looks cool IMO

the FW version look too... round - the normal XV8 battlesuits all have a more square and angled look

For canadians its actually a great idea to get the Forgeworld suit.

1 Regular suit is $45 cdn.
1 Forgeworld XV-88-2 is 22pounds. Which is equivilant to about $46 CDN.

If you buy it at a Gamesday or Conflict event it will only be $44 CDN.

I got two and I love 'em, they look far far cooler than the regular ones, and can be used to represent the ASS with no conversion work.
