never heard it before? it means very little embellishment, no upgrades in this context.

you cant select the fireknife combo with broadsides...
broadsides are either twin linked railguns and smart missile system or replacing the missile system with plasma rifles...

As standard they are Twin linked Railguns and one Smart Missile System, which works well... but the upgrade of the Plasma Rifle instead of the Smart Missile System is of use in some cases... I myself use the Railgun and SMS as its cheaper but just as effective...

You also have to take one support system. Some people use target locks but I found them kind of useless since you often want to put massive fire to one target when playing Tau to meke it properly killed. One railgun shot at a vehicle is to gamble. I seem to need at least two. I also never use the multi-tracker sand it should only be equipped if you have also chosen plasma since the solid shot and the smart missiles differ so much in stats. The drone controller is tempting but in 4th ed quite useless as well. My advice is either go cheap with the TL or MT or do like me - use the shield generators. Where 20 pts is much for a crisis suit it can really make a difference for your immobile broadsides.
My advice is Smart Missiles and Shield Generators. One Broadside in a unit is not powerful enough and three is in many cases overkill. Take two - you don't have to bond them and you have two TL BS3 S10 shots to take out those approacing vehicles. |

I dont know, target lock has always worked for me when I needed it. Yeah if you have that monolith out there on the battlefield facing off against you your gonna wanna send everything at it to get it out of the way but when you have say a couple rhinos or razobacks comming at you the ability to take 3 shots at different ones can really make a game winner from the start. Just my opinion though.
