Default Alternate Pathfinder Stats

A while ago, there was a topic about why the Pathfinders need to take a Devilfish.* I can't remember who it was, but someone said that it was to offset how good they were instead of merely increasing their points.* They went on to say that GW should have given them slightly better stats and raised their cost.* This inspired me, and I decided to make my own rules for them.* So here they are.* Tell me what you think.* Sorry if it is a little long. :

Shas'ui** +10*** 2* ** * 4** * 3*** 3*** 1 *** 2*** *2** * 8* ** 5+
Size: 4-8

Equipment: Pulse Carbines, Markerlights, Photon Grenades, EMP Grenades
Options:Can upgrade 1 model to Shas'ui.* If done, the whole squad gets the Move Through Cover Universal Special Rule, and can purchase Infiltrate at +3 points per model.* The Shas'ui has access to the Tau armory.* Up to 3 models in the squad can exchange their Pulse Carbines and Markerlights for a Rail Rifle and Target Lock at +10 points each.* The squad can also purchase a Devilfish at the normal cost.* The devilfish will have the special Pathfinders' Devilfish beacon thing.

Giving them infiltrate might be pushing it. If you can put down your markerlights like that - you can do a lot of damage....A LOT of damage.

You can...Stealth Suits! Haha!

But anyways, this looks ok, but I don't know about 25 Pts. Although, looking at the costs, it's not so bad. FW (10pts) + Markerlight (10 pts) + Targetting Array (10pts) + EMP (3pts) + Photons (1pt) = 34 pts, so I guess that's ok.

And I love that you can purchase Infiltrate. Screw Move Through Cover, I want Scouts back. It's reactionary to any enemy infiltrator set-ups.

Basically I wanted to have Pathfinders more like how I imagine them: as stealthy elite firewarriors, sort of like the veterans of the Imperial Guard.

to Silverwing: Thats why I made it so expensive to get infiltrate. For 8 guys to infiltrate, it would cost 10 points for the 'ui + 3*8 for the ability, so 34 extra points. Without anything else, it would be 234 points, or for 4 models, 134 points, which I thought was good but not unfair.

best way of representing pathfinders is a special deployment rule. as in they go first onto the board, possibly anywhere, and possibly in a hidden position.

that's one option. second option is to take the "spotters" notion as they will call in the forces to strike, so perhaps you'll get one re-roll of a reserve roll per pathfinder squad.

i think a special deployment would suit better than infiltrate. but both can be used to represent it, i suppose. i just prefer the notion that these guys pull the army forward.

bang on on the points though. 20, 25pts should do if they can pull these stunts.

If they have a 5+ save, give them stealth. They'll need it to stay alive...

i believe the 4+ armor save is to represent that they're good at finding cover anywhere- besides that i like the idea for BS 4, but not the infiltrate. The Forward Scouts special rule is better then the infiltrate, it would make them broken because you could put them almost anywhere on the board- make the devilfish mandatory whichever way.
and as for House Rules, I agree- you should move it there unless you want it in the submission although it's looking a little crowded.

This might not be all that bad, like withe the shas'ui for another 5pts a model, they can get stealth generators, but that might be going overboard on points.
