Default Tau Barracuda, useful in 40k games or not?

I'm considering

purchasing the Tau Barracuda for forgeworld after witnessing the usefuless of the Eldar

Pheonix in battle at my local Bunker. The Barracuda takes up a heavy support choice

and can be used in regular games without consent. The weapons on the Barracuda are

2 burst cannons, twin-linked missle podes, and an ion cannon 220pts total. I'm

considering this over purchasing another hammerhead as flyers are unexpected and cool to

use. It has 1 extra weapon over the ion cannon hammerhead configuration and is much

more difficult to engage and destroy. Any suggestions or comments on this decision?

Would you use a Barracuda in a 1700-2000 pt battle?

hmm i dont know

the actual rules for flyers and shooting at them, but they look cool and it would

probably be better than a hammerhead.. and for 220 points, id use it in a 2000 point

battle.

You can use Barracudas

in offical tournies. The Barracuda is armour 10 all around, but since its a flyer,

destroying one is significantly difficult. Why is it that no one is posting when

forgeworld stuff is mentioned? Come on people, I need some advice and support

please!

I just read the rules,

it looks interesting. I would try it if I had the money, I'd say if you feel like,

just do it, probably not many people have experience with one . once you do, you can come

back and tell us how it works.
with such low armour, a dedicated anti air mount

could make short work of it, but I don't think many people have an anti air vehicle

normally. however, theoretically you could try to stay out of range since you can choose

your path regardless of terrain. I wonder if it's useful to set seeker missiles in

the rear side of armour

You role for the

Barracuda as reserves. When its available you simply place it on any deployement

edge at the beginning of ur turn. There are two ways to destory enemy vehicles

utilizing the Barracuda. One way is to place it directly behind or beside indirect

fire hidden ordenance tanks to rid urself of that threat. Also, you can place them

behind tanks in the open such as leman russ tanks. This allows ur FireWarriors, or

better yet pathfinders, to markerlight the vehicle and fire the Seeker missles from the

Barracuda that is directly behind the tank. Ergo, half of the Markerlights hit

statistically. Missles hit on 2+ and glance on 2+ and pen on 3+. Way cool.

If that dosen't do the trick, Burst Cannons, Misslepods, and an ion cannon to

its rear armour will. I'll try some games with a proxiy and tell you how

they go, however, I know at least one of you on Tau Online must own one and utilized it.

Please, I need some feedback on this costly investment. :-\

Basically, you place it

on any table edge you wish when it comes available. Then, it moves in a straight

line during ur opponents turn across the board. You may pivot the barracuda up to

45% I believe.
