This has been discussed quite abit before now.

General consensus, IIRC, was that the Tau don't know that much about the Eldar and the Eldar look at the Tau pretty much like they look at everyone - a couple evolutionary steps above pond scum, save when it comes to manners.

Pretty much. There hasn't been a great deal of contact between them. Alaitoc is really the only major Craftworld in the area.

There has been a qute rom one of the Eldar (can't remember who) that (roughly): the Tau are the universes greatest hope.

recent fluff rejects the idea of good Eldar and Tau relations. By the by- that whole Alaitoc thing, yeah- it never states that the Alaitoc saved the Tau, they just diverted an Ork Waagh that MIGHT have ended the early Empire. Anyway, recent fluff in the form of the Medusa Campaign and the DoW dark crusade indicates that the Ulthwe Eldar can't stand the Tau while the Tau look at them as a kind of nuisance. Eldrad was from Ulthwe no?

Yeah, well I'm sure we're all familiar with the duality of the Eldar sometimes. "They're the best hope for the universe after us...kill them."

That was said by Farseer Eldrad Ulthuan. No other Eldar has been known to share his views. And guess what, he's DEAD, so not much chance of him spreading the word now is there? :P

Given the consequences of the Medusa V campaign, the Eldar seem pretty irate at us nicking a Titan.

They destroyed an Imperial Shipyward to destroy a recovered Eldar vessel, easily. If we're slightly more discerning in our hiding of the Titan...who knows how far they'll go to get it?
