Default A fault with Fish of Fury

We all know the FoF tactic, (or should do!) but is it redundant against armies with fleet of foot/claw who can move 6", fellt of foot/claw, then assault 6" and munch up the firewarrirors? what if the squad just grenade your fish as well when its parker right up to their noses? are these flaws in the plan or just me worrying too much?

How much have you tried them against horde armies? One or two FoF (silly name by the wau) will easily take out much horde units with thir low armour save. The grenades seldom works since they only hits on 6s and only make glancing hits. Have faith in the Devilfish!

yeh i should shouldnt i! i dont play vs horde armies though...chaos, marines and biel tan eldar mostly.....i forgot about the grenades hitting on a 6+, thanks for reminding me!

as for the name fish of fury i dont know where it came from, i saw dizzygamer using it and FoF seemed a good abbrevietion instead of saying the whole tactic out....maybe he named it!

honestly, I don't see it working against fleet creature or worse, guys with jump packs/swooping hawk wings. I see firewarriors dying. But then again who am I.

ok, grenades hit on 6's there shouldnt be enough guys left......

and to stop the fleet people getting in you use a HH and 2 fishes toconstruct a bunket like so

against jump packers, they should be dead or receiving fiull attention of the whole army. core Tau doctrine states

"kill the fast things first"

You then get a problem with ravenwing and white scars (luckily noone I know collects them!)

even with that shape couldnt a unit rolling a 3 or 4 (avergae) on fleet of foot still get up to you,

as for jetpacks it wouldnt be wise to FoF a jetpack squad unless it is small in no. and you were CERTAIN of taking it out.

a 10 man squad deserves 2 FoF and a crisis team w/ plasma, a 5 man simply needs one FoF and another or a criris team packing plasma IMO.

good point, i hadn't taken into account supporting fire from other squads...how many FoF squads would you take in a full detatchment andhow many would you leave static?
