Default How does this mobile tau army look?

HQ

1 xv8 crisis battlesuit shas'o- 110pt.
-missile pod- 14pt.
-plasma rifle- 16pt.
-multi tracker- 5pt.

ELITE

3 groups of 1 xv8 crisis battlesuit (all shas'ui)- approx. 186pt. (I would customize the three battlesuits according to the oppenent I would be facing, but how do these customizations look?)

anti-infantry battlesuit- 59pt.
-burst cannon- 10pt.
-missile pod- 14pt.
-multi tracker- 5pt.

Anti-vehicle battlesuit- 61pt.
-fusion blaster- 12pt.
-missile pod- 14pt.
-multi tracker- 5pt.

All Situation battlesuit- 66pt.
-burst cannon- 10pt.
-fusion blaster- 12pt.
-missile pod- 14pt.

TROOPS

3 groups of 12 bonded firewarriors

All groups equipped with one devilfish troop apc- 300pt.
-gun drones- free
-multi tracker- 10pt.
-decoy launchers- 5pt.
-discruption pod- 5pt.

kroot carnivore squad- 157pt.
-15 kroot warrior- 105pt.
-4 kroot hounds- 24pt.
-1 kroot shaper- 28pt.

HEAVY SUPPORT

3 groups of 1 hammerhead gunship- 545pt.

Hammerhead 1- 185pt.
-railgun(solid shot)- 50pt.
-smart missile system- 20pt.

TOTAL POINT COST- 1688 (Obviously alot of games play less points, so to lower the cost I would first remove any unecessary upgrades, then take out different units depending on what army I was facing.

Please give me any tips or suggestions on how to improve my army.

First- wrong forum (I think. Army Lists?)
Second- QUICK! delete all the specefic points costs of the items, it violates Games Workshop copyright. I think TO might delete/mod your post if you don't.

Anyway,
Burst cannon IMHO is useless, just go Twin linked rifles.
All Situation battlesuit is kindof counterproductive- it only works at extreme short range or against vehicles, usually of longer range.
Why do you have an anti-vehicle battlesuits when you only have solid shot hammerheads? Either make anti-armour battlesuits and submuns HH, or switch. Right now, I don't think in that many points you'll be facing that much armour IMHO.
Oh, and kroot suck for mobil tau (true mech tau, at least). Leave 'em.

You say you have unnecessary upgrades? THEN TAKE THEM OUT. Take out a tank too, you don't need that many HH. This should be a 1000pt list for the amount of units.

Dude TauTau dont over react. yes he will need to remove the specific points for the upgrades when he sees this, but you dont need to worry about it that much, and the AL forum isnt used much nowadays, all the AL go in the army specific forums as they get more attention there.

on to the list, really some horrible mistakes here, but good intentions make it all better.

HQ

make him and 'el, it saves points for only a little effectiveness shas'el -fireknife : 85pts

umm all of those battlesuits look pretty bad, just take fireknife. it has proven itself to be the best battlesuit around.

Hmm....... we seem to have lost the point of the kroot here, theyre really cheap. squads of 20, no shaper. thats it. cheap efficient effective. 20Kroot - 140pts

there you go, a 2000pts army out of the models you gave me ;D and a much more effective one at that. and yes kroot do work in mobile Tau as they hold cover from the enemy as mobile Tau ?(and any Tau) has an unholy time getting units out of cover. they infiltrate so they are fast enough to get into position and will often provide a lure for less intelligent commanders that see the amount of models in cover ;D

why do each of your hammerheads cost different points! swap disruption pod for decoy launchers, a better upgrade for staying alive, just trust me! The kroot squad is nice, the hounds are cheap and id consider them if i was really tight on points and had to swap carnivores for hounds....overall much much better, espcially as youve cut down on a lot of stupid upgrades!

Get rid of the disruption pods, Take MT+TL that way you can move 12", fire alll your weapons, and at differeent targets. BCs amd SMS vs. infantry and Rail against vehicles. its a 10 pt upgrade and worth its weight in gold. Targeting arrys on devil fish are worthless.

Oh and I know Diz is in love with Fireknife config, but others work just as well. Experiment with all the crisis options and see what works for you. I do the TL Plasma rifle sheild gen and works great against marines. But everyone is differeent and going to use different tactics based on what kinda person you are.

in a squad of three, make 2 have twin linked plasmas and shield gens, then take one with a target lock and TL missile pod for tank busting....excellent anti marine combo that can take out normal marines, termies and rhinos! thats just one alternative that ive come up with....

for 1500pts take off one HH the kroot and a crisis squad and add DP to the fishes. done.

well plasma rifles are exxcellent marine hunters as are Ion Cannons and pulkse rifles are surprisisngly goo too! ;D BABOOM

ion cannons may be good vs marines but are not as good as railguns vs. everything else :P
