I have finally decided on the last few models to outfit my 1500 point army with. I was thinking of running a railhead, ionhead, and broadside. Today I realised that I would be using the ionhead for MEQ's and decided that perhaps sniper drones would be a viable alternative. Does anyone have any opinions on how a team of sniper drones would compare point wise and kill wise?

Range and mobility, as well as the ability to hit light vehicles (Ionhead) VS twice as many shots (Dual Sniper squads).
Choose as you must.

I just shelved my Ionhead for a while. I am putting the finishing touches on 2 teams of sniper drones. I figure the ability to nail light vehicles.. mixed with the target locks and the BS 4 markerlights will make things so much better. I already run 2 railheads. So I figure between pinning.. marking.. and the stealth armor they should be good to protect their points. They cant claim corners or double up for VPs.. but they still count for their point total in the final count. Not bad I figure. They will work good in a list with a pair of devilfish and a pair of hammerheads. Keep mobility and mix it with a strong static firebase.
I vote yes.. AND you can magnet them up for flight stands ![]()

Ionhead with SMS, Target lock etc 4 5-5 shots, 3 7-3 shots... 1 shot more total, doesn't require LOS for 4 of them, shoots further with the heavy shots and shorter with the lighter ones. Can fire at two targets... Come on! Ionhead every day of the week and twice on sunday!

And don't forget about pinning. When you can force a Marine opponent to make 5-6 pinning tests per turn, he is going to fail some of them, even on Leadership 10.

Marines aren't fearless, though.

After thinking about it, for strictly MEQ killing, the drones seem like a better idea. They have better survivablilty and can't be killed in one hit. I think ill run some of these instead of an ionhead.
