Default Has anyone tried this???

Has any one tried running 3 full squads of vespid...I haven't, but I think it would be powerful(against marines anyway)

Have you tried i though, because I coul envision 3 squads of vespid destroying one unit of marines before moving on to the next. Sure, they're vulnerable to return fire, but with a little creative maneuvering....

a full squad(which is required for effectiveness) is 182 points 11 shots. Of those 5.5 will hit, and of that and about 4 kills. Now the average marine unit runs what, 10 man squads? Barring spectacular rolls you'd need 2.5 turns of shooting unmolested to kill a squad.

Now you just happen to be in range of rapid fire while shooting them. So you kill those 4 marines, they get 12 shots back, of which 8 will hit, and 4 wound. Now thats just if the squad is made up of just normal bolter/bolt pistol CCW. Heavy bolters and you're out 182 points.

182>120, however not better than.

Good for high terrain games.

And it might work if you are careful, 30 high ST, High AP shots coming out of nowhere.

Risky though.

ah but if you had 3 full squads of vespids firing on one unit they will be wiped out before they can fire back. have to use the terrain to get into striking position first though which would be hard.

Don't forget they are supposed to support pathfinder too, or the other way around. Two markerlight hits and that's a lot more dead marines.

If you took 3 squads of vespids you will need a awful lot luck to keep them alive. 5+ armour saves don't like bolter's

It's not the 5+ armor save that worries me, it's the 5+ armor save at 17 points. That just isn't cost-effective unless I can be garaunteed to be safe from shooting or earn a chunk of my points back.

Tell me now, is there a man among you here, is there no one who will stand up and try to fight? Tell me man, is there not one in all your ranks, is there no one who values courage over life?

Vespid=fast attack
Pathfinder=fast attack

You cant have 3 squads of vespid with pathfinder assistance.
