I would scrap the bodyguards, and use a shas'o instead of shas'el. Just let him join a team of crisis fire knife suits instead.

if you arent going to give your shas'ui's any wargear, dont use them, they arent worth the prise, max your squads instead.

i've never used broadsides, since i've only played 4th edition, and they arent worth it.

The hammerhad looks nice, but you should give it target lock

Hello, and pleased to here from Italia!* Your English is excellent.* Do not worry about it at all!

Your army list is interesting; it appears to be a classic combination for the Tau:* An firebase and the mobile element.* It is a good list, and one I would certainly use for any game I wished to play.

For your Broadsides, I would recommend not using the Gun Drone.* Most of this unit's firepower will be long range, and the added Drone does not give you any benefit, sadly.* Its weapon simply does not match the range of your other forces, and will be tied back to a mostly non-moving unit for the entire game.* The Shield Drones are a good thought, but remember the rules for mixed Toughness units; while the Shield Drone is alive, your enemies will wound against Toughness 3.

I agree with the previous poster about the Hammerhead tank.* To keep up with your Crisis Suits, you will need a Target Lock, to allow it to fire at the proper targets of opportunity.* No need waisting a rail gun shot on something that only needs burst Cannons to eliminate!* Everything else about it looks very good.

Last thoughts:* Remember to concentrate your strength and fire.* Do not divide your energies against targets that will not help you!* If there is an objective, always keep it in mind; write it down somewhere nearby, if it helps.* If your opponent has a fast attack or dangerous assault unit, be sure to knock it out before anything else.* Make your battle plan and stick to it, and you should do fine, regardless of the army you play.

Good luck, and best wishes!

I like it, lots of fire warriors! I would probaly scrap the body guard too, the're not realy that usefull. just plonk your commander with one of your other crisis teams instead.

Erm...firstly stuff the body gaurds and let the commander keep his IC status,
Now to save you some points get rid of all bonding...the etheral on the table lets you re-roll morale tests.
If you want you could get rid of your to broadsides and just get another hammerhead...which means small arm fire wont be able to harm it and with a Multi-tracker meaning it can only ever be Glanced

Hope this advice helps...

not really, it just means he can fire his railgun when moving more than 6", which then means he can only be glanced. There is a difference

I'd drop the stealth team to max out the squads of fire warriors and you'll hve some extra points to mess around with...

Nice classic list here, all the makings of a strong tau list, I will however try and Ironout some of the more hindering tactical wrinkles while still keeping the essence of the list.

1 Ethereal (HQ) @ 50 Pts
2 Close Combat Weapons
Drop this, you dont need two commanders and less on the commanders is more on the troops , also he is not effective in such small games as he cant be protected from a smart opponent.

1 Commander Shas'el (HQ) @ 245 Pts
Missile Pod; Plasma Rifle; Multi-Tracker
Hard-wired target lock [7]
Hard-wired blacksun filter [3]
Drop the Target Lock as where hes going he wont need it ;D, also drop the blacksun unless you expect to play lots of nightfight.for my suggestions purposes he needs to exchange his Plasma for a Fusion Blaster.

with 2 Bodyguard @ [150] Pts
Missile Pod; Plasma Rifle; Multi-Tracker
Drop these as in 4th ed your commander is better off staying within 6" of a normalk squad of crisi as then according to the Independant Character rule he cannot be designated as the target for shooting, this offers more protection than the bodyguard as the wounds wont spill over onto the commander if the squad takes heavy fire.

4 Stealth Team (Elites) @ 120 Pts
Perfect, no changes needed.

1 Crisis Battlesuit Team (Elites) @ 54 Pts AIP VEHICLE HUNTER
Flamer; TL Fusion Blaster

3 Crisis Battlesuit Team (Elites) @ 195 Pts
Missile Pod; Plasma Rifle; Multi-Tracker
here I'm going to suggest some minor rearrangement, 1st = switch all suits to Fireknife. 2nd = Balance them into 2 teams of 2, ok now for the reasons. first of all the shas'el ais now the tank hunter as his ^BS makes him more effective with the Fusion Blaster, he will hover towards armour accompanied by a team of two crisi who will lay down fire to thin off squads near the tanks, this allows him to use the IC(independant character) rule to avoid fire while maintaining maximum effectiveness.

9 Fire Warriors (Troops) @ 120 Pts
; Bonded; Shas'ui

9 Fire Warriors (Troops) @ 120 Pts
; Bonded; Shas'ui

9 Fire Warriors (Troops) @ 120 Pts
; Bonded; Shas'ui

9 Fire Warriors (Troops) @ 120 Pts
; Bonded; Shas'ui
These fire warriors are ok but not the best. for a more flexible tactical choice i suggest amalgamating 2 squads, forming 1 of 12 and adding 3 fire warriors to another squad to make it up to 12 aswell then using the 30pst leftover and the 50 from the etheral get a Devilfish for your 12 squad. this allows for more mobility and aplication in the feild (you can shoot under the Devilfish but they cant charge under it ) and adds the ability to capture objectives.it also takes some heat away from the HH as one vehicle in the whole army is a very tempting target.

1 Broadside Battlesuit Team (Heavy Support) @ 95 Pts
Smart Missile System; TL Railgun
1 gun drone; 1 shield drone

1 Broadside Battlesuit Team (Heavy Support) @ 95 Pts
Smart Missile System; TL Railgun
1 gun drone; 1 shield drone
Broadsides are mot my favourite unit and do not support this list very well as they add unneeded tank busting power to a list already equipped to handle all but an armoured company w/ ease. I suggest dropping them for a HH like the other one as the HH is a real strength in the Tau list and will improve your game vs Horde armies. with the remaining points purchasing a stealth suit would be good as it adds wounds to the squad and makes them more effective vs elite armies, particularly Eldar as they can keep up.

1 Hammerhead Gunship (Heavy Support) @ 165 Pts
Railgun; Two Burst Cannons;
Multi-tracker [10]
Decoy Launcher [5]

With those few adjustments I feel the core of the list is still there while adding tactical nuances and levels of sophistication for your opponent to puzzle through. in the revised list no models are glaring targets and all units in the army are capable of supporting eachother, leaving no unit as a lump of "free points" for the claiming.

in short, good list just needs some tweaking for effectiveness.
