Default Shadowsun and the FAQ U2

So, I guess everyone has read the new FAQ by now?? Well, I noticed no one but me is upset about the Shadowsun not being able to join other units. I just want to point out that she is the only commander with drones who cannot do this.

The reason? Makes her easier to kill. After all, the tau can't have a Ld 10 all the times, that is reserved for marines. :P

Yet another reason this FAQ should be renamed FAQ U2!!! >

Well, at first I thought it was kinda lame that her Ld boost could be killed, but she seemed like a really spiffy model. She's essentially a whole Sunforge team just by herself. But now she can't join units?! How does that make sense? So now I'm rather miffed that I spent hours trying to make her hair look completely lifelike, and now she'll be spending the rest of her life on the shelf.

On the bright side, most of my playing group has decided to completely ignore the more "bogus" points of the various FAQs (Tyranid IB/ID rules, Landspeeder DS, Pathfinders, O'Shovah, O'Shaserra) and continue playing like we used to. Also, I have one really amazingly cool-looking model to show off.

Lol, it is also reserved for necrons! LD 10 on every model! (i really hope that doesn't break the copyright!)

The new faq is ridiculous, its their pathetic attempt at consoling the people complaining that the Tau were too good...

Shadowsun has never been able to join other units. nothing has changed.

Sure she could, it used to be that drones only halfway removed IC status. It took away IC insofar as not being a valid target, but left the option to join other units. Shadowsun was always played like that, a commanderwith drones who could join other units. Now that she has been screwed out of that, it will be easier to kill her, a simple target priority test and a decent amount of firepower, and you can kiss that expensive HQ goodbye. Makes me wanna hurl :-X

So just keep her more than 36" from the enemy. Then they can't see her becuase of her stealth field.

How is one effectively going to do that??? I mean after first turn anyway.

Well if you move her back it's unlikely any seriously shooty enemy unit will be able to get within less than 30" of her before turn 3. That will make her fairly hard to spot.

Lictors can't shoot so they'd be a threat even if she was in a squad.

If she gets drop podded she gets drop podded.

Try maybe keeping a few units around her so they'll have to take a priority test then a spotting test. The more test an enemy has to take the sooner they eventually fail one.

I think people are making too big a deal out of this FAQ personally but meh that's me.
