Default where do we stand

hey i was thinking and i'm not sure if we have anything that we exel at more than the other races

were not the most mobile:eldar

were not the best at shooting:imperial guard

were not the most hevely armored tank wise or infantry wise: imperial guard and space marines

we are the worst at close combat

do we have an advantage over the other races in amy aspect of the game?

30 inch S5 basic weapon? 72" S10? Accurate ordnance?

As for most mobile, I think we do contest that. Quite a few of our troops come standard with the JsJ ability, eldar have to spend like 10 pts a vehicle to get that type of ability.

we are dynamic. I had five ( 8)) different ways to kill off a land raider on the first turn in one game i played (might not seem the best way to spend 90% of my fire power but the psychological effect was devastating! The guy was an idiot and thought that his LR was invulnerable and more powerful than all three of his infantry squads!)

That is our main ally, flexibility. We have units that can do it all.

Broadsides, hammerheads, crisis suits, FOF, pathfinders, drones.

We have a versitile force that is a contender to all but the cheesiest opponents.

It takes a very well-constructed army to match the flexibility of a general Tau army and this is a rare thing to face...though I think the Eldar do this best to my experience.

Your individual units, much like the Eldar, are not good at everything...but put together, you can overcome anything if you mix things around and don't rely on brutally powerful units (like Space Marines) or finely honed deadliness (Eldar).

The flipside here is that you pretty much have to balance your entire army...whatever size it is. While at low levels and against certain foes, you can take a tightly themed (Shovah Crisis army, Fire Warrior firing squad etc) you can really hurt things...but to take on mixed or balanced armies, or ones that are designed to fight your niche, you need to balance and use your flexibility.

It is true, Tau are not the best at anything. But they are very good at all aspects of war (well except close combat), making them incredibly flexible. They have great firepower, and while it does not match the Imperial Guard's sheer numbers, it provides many good weapons, and skilled users, the Tau are not as mobile as the Eldar, but still have many crafts that excel them into the enemy's territory and around the board when they need it, and while we stink at close combat, we have a whole bunch of good stats and strategy make-ups that allow us to avoid the sport in a whole, so it is not that much of a threat if you are any good with tactics.

Sure, we don't bring the best of anything, but we bring a hell of a lot of stuff, and we're good with what we do. That's the best we can ask for!

Range Flexibility Acuracy. Yes the BS sucks but we have ways of mitigating that.

Also we are blue. No one has bluer skin than us. :-\

What are you talking about? Their BS is just where it should be.

But seriously, a Guardsman, I'm willing to bet, could a) outshoot me, b) give me the beating of my life, and c) shove more squad-based tactics down my throat than I'd ever care to digest. Guard are hard, hard men. Whether or not GW's inconsistent, Marine-worshipping fluff keeps with that, mkay?

Real men fight in tanks!

I never found Fire Warriors to be all that terrible at shooting
