Default Gue'la Auxilaries; Are they legal?

I have the latest version of Army Builder and I now have Auxiliaries on the army list. They are different from the previous version. I would like to know if they are legal now. Any clues? If so any tactics for them?
Thanks, Don

Did you do a search for other Gue'la topics before asking this question?

In short yes, because they don't cause headaches in tournaments (like Armored companies- another C.A. list.)

As said this has been discussed before and the threads in question can be found with a forum search. I myself gave up trying to get a conclusive answer Ive gotten so many rulings for both legal and illegal from GW itself too. So all I can say is oh well if you really want to use them then use them they arent really that scary or amazing your opponent shouldnt object. I mean just tell them your going to fill a troop slot with a bunch of guardsmen instead of Firewarriors with their str 5 ap 5, 30" range guns with 4+ armor and see him object. I want to see that.

Mainly they are meatshields, not hugley useful; on the plus side this means that your oponent shouldn't object too much.

No way dude, those guys are awesome! For 74 pts you can get a markerlight, 6 guardsmen, and EMP grenades!

It depends.

1) Either there's nothing to target (JSJ suits, Fishes in cover, Kroot behind forests, stealths...well, behind their field) so usually they will target the Gue'la and they'll be gone by the end of first turn.

OR

2) Opponent is too busy fending off all your units to bother about 6 piont FW wannabes and they EMP his Landraider/Monolith >

However, in my experiences the First senerio happens the most (most opponents know about suicide EMP bombers) and they die. Period.

Well, this link says you can:

http://uk.games-workshop.com/chapter...2Dauxiliaries/

Besides.. why would an opponent object to you having Gue'vesa? They make perfect sense in the fluff, they fill out a minor tactical niche, and they're not overpowered. In fact, they're slightly underpowered compared to the rest of the Tau. If your opponent isn't letting you use them, he's just being mean. ;D

The problem is that the article is now in the "archives" section and the unit was not included in the new codex. If it was really legal why was it not included in the dex? Doesnt make much sense now does it... but it is GW so who knows. I had some problems with the new dex and the gue'vesa were one but now that there is a new rulebook for the Tau that does not include them and they are in the archives section it would seem that they are now outdated and largly unofficial which is as good as opponents permission but not totally legit is my interpretation of the unit.

Since they left it on the site, then they must have "grandfathered" it in. I say it's legal, as it makes sense fluff-wise. I mean after all, did the tau somehow lose all their human allies?? If they did I never heard of it, and since I use em sometimes, I'm stickin with legal.

because if they included it in the dex, every imperial fanboy would go crazy and some GW employees would be hurt.

I mean, "Emperor Forbid humans be friendly with Xenos! Ohnoes!!!111".

If it's not in the codex, then it's in the grey area, where other people (the staff in the individual stores) have to worry about it, and not the head corporation. It's shuffeling off headaches to other people- something GW likes to do apparently...
