Default Crisis Weapon Testbed MkI

I had posted this question/suggestion on the GW Forum, but I'd thought I'd mention it here and see what this forum thinks.

I had proposed as weapon to fill in the 30" range that isn't covered by any other battlesuit system. I suggested using a twin-linked Pulse Rifle that would fill only one hardpoint. I next asked how this would work if two sets were mounted. Would they have to be twin-linked to each other? Would using a multi-tracker help make an exception from usual twin-linked rules.

I realise that the twin-linked Pulse Rifle may not be a very effective weapon, but as the Tau are still developing their technology and will try and stretch what technology they have.

Err.. dunoo what you're talking about. It's about TL Pulse rifles. Not railrifles.

TL Pulse rifles don't seem too bad. Seems a bit weak to me.

Ditto, Stargazer. I'd say make them the same points cost as a flamer. Sort of a nice back-up system.

As for two sets, I'd say just make them two twin-linked pulse rifles.

It'd be maybe 5 points and not that great of an option, but I don't see why it'd be that bad, but I think the rail rifle would be a better substitute in the over 24" range guns. Just my thought.

My comment about rail rifles was only my suggested weapon system, I wasn't responding to the pulse rifle thing.

But my opinion on that is as yours stargazer, it's too weak. Instead of a pulse rifle, how about a TL long barrelled carbine for 1 harpoint. It would have a 30" range and rapid fire like a pulse rifle, but would pin like a carbine. That would be a worthwhile weapon system for say 10 points??

It would be essentialy be pulse rilfe + pinning wouldn it? Besides, for 10 pionts I would take the burst cannon over it any day.

It would be twin linked as well all for 10 points and only one hardpoint. It would be the perfect compliment to the Missile Pod, because of the pinning tests. I like the idea of throwing long range pinning tests downfield. Nice way to slow down hordes of orks/nids don't you think? Another application would be to stop that devastator squad for a turn so you can move up armor. Maybe make it 8 points if it is a little expensive.

Nope, not worth it. 4-5 points, otherwise I'm gettin' a burst cannon.

Waste of a hardpoint, IMO. Might be cool, but it would deal very little damage.
