Default Mixed battelsuit configurations

I think it's sad that varied weapon and support systems are rarely used for battlesuits. I also find that almost noone use the drone-controllers for their battlesuits since the new majority-rules.

What do you think of this (anti-marine) unit?:

1 Crisis Suit, TL Plasma Rifle, Shield Generator
1 Crisis Suit, TL Plasma Rifle, Drone Controller + 2 Shield Drones
1 Crisis Suit, Plasma, Fusion Blaster, Multi-tracker

The unit will have a majority toughness of 4 and a majority save of 3+/4+. My recepie: More suits than drones and more models (including drones) with shield generators than without.

Here is a broadside unit based on the same idea:

1 Broadside Suit, Smart Missiles, Shield Generator
1 Broadside Suit, Smart Missiles, Drone Controller + 2 Shield Drones
1 Broadside Suit, Smart Missiles, Target Lock

Here the majority toughness is 4 and the saves are 2+/4+

What do you think? Will these kinds of units work?

for the crisis suits it might....but i prefer the fireknife and i also prefer lone suits too (but thats just me!). The problem is that that crisis squad is very expensive....thats my only quibble...as for the broadsides....each one needs to be able to fire at a seperate unit to be most effective....(e.g a seperate tank....seperate space marine character....seperate tyranid big bug etc.)

Do you actually rely on one TL Railgun to take down your enemy? Do you take one broadside suit as a heavy choise or do you use target locks for them all? None of those options have worked for me.

i use hammerheads and dont get me wrong im a big fan of broadsides...but put taregt locks on them if in a squad of 2 or 3 (remember put 1 on a squad of 2 and 2 on a squad of 3)

I usually play with two hammerheads (1 ion-cannon, 1 railgun) in all games of at least 1000p so that leaves me with 1 heavy choise left. I have experienced that broadside suits without shield generators and/or drones will die too quick and I don't ike the idea of paying points to upgrade one of the suits to be able to pay more points for a hard-wired system. With the new rules overriding the codex' rules for units mixed with drones you have to combine shield generators and drones or get majority toughness 3 to get those invunrable saves.

lol, simple choice , dont play w/ broadsides, personally i take HH any day of the week, much better units and I hate the 'sides models, also on the mixed inut config........just no......Consistency is the key, think of what a casualty does to your expensive majority abuse there, not so good, give me fireknife or give me more plasma ;D

i like to play 2HH and either 2 or 3 sides. I find them very effective when put in cover and given a bit of shielding to form a great firebase..that way they can concentrate on taking down vehicles when my HH's can use their submunitions blasts to eliminate troops

Hardly a majority abuse. If the damage is only a single wound, it can be taken from the Suit; it if would kill, a drone. It's one free shot that can be absorbed, and even with the first drone casualty, the ratio is 50/50 Invulnerable 4+/ 3+ Armor saves. Toughness, even with a suit going down, is the same (50-50 4 vs 3 Toughness). That's the only point a decision has to be made, whether to retain the 4+ Shields or the 3+ suits.

I find broadsides a total waste of points, if the firebase needs to start inching back (odd pun but hey....) they become worthless wheras the HH is never worthless, I also fing maxing out on HS choices a slap in the face, its just bad practice, 2HH is enough HS, if more tank killing is needed take the 56 point gue'vesa tank hunters.

and zoomer i was under the impression that if a tie was reached the lower characteristic took prescedence. and i said casualty not wound.
