500p tau, ok?

Default 500p tau, ok?

I am going to play vs a friend this weekend, he plays Witch hunters and we are going to have a 500p battle.

Here is the list i think i will use:

Hq: Points:
Shas'o; 132p
Plasma rifle, Fusion blaster, shield Generator, HW multi-tracker

Troop:
12 Fire warriors 120p
12 Fire warriors 120p

Elite:
1 Crisis suit; 65p
Plasma rifle, Missile pod, Multi-tracker

1 Crisis suit; 65p
Plasma rifle, Missile pod, Multi-tracker

Total:
502p

Any feedback is good
P.s. this is my first match with my tau

not bad, similar to mine but drop the FB and HWlock and SG replace w/ MP+MT for a normal fireknife commander and use the saved points to shasúi the FW.

this commander is just as survivable as the other as he piggybacks (stays within 6" of the crisis to take advantage of the IC cant be target rule)

get rid of the shield generator for the shas'o....consider making him a shas'el for this small a battle. I dont know witchhunters well...so i wouldnt know if they had many....any tanks at all....i doubt it so this list should be fine...with the points saved from getting rid of sheild generator and making target lock not hard wired and making shas'o , shase'..you save 2+20+25 = 47 points.....then id get rid of 1 crisis suit......47+65 = 112....for that you can either add a devilfish for one of the fire warrior teams....a 3 man stealth squad (9 strength 5 shots...not bad and works very well in small ponts battles)...gun drone squad or even a 11 man fire warrior team....just my two cents

sorry I didnt see the shasó there I meant to degrade it to shasél fireknife config.

He dont have any tanks so i you are right that i probobly don't need the FB
The reson for sheld gen and for him being a shas'o is that my friend has serahpims (jumb pack) and other fast moving things.. so i might get into cc quickly,
and the shas'o is a lot better in cc (ws 4; st 5; A 4, can beat up the regular troops) then a shas'el so thats why i conciderd taking him, is this wrong?

I allso considerd having an etherial instead, anyone think that would be better??

about missile pods, all sisters of battle have 3+ armor, so maby a burst cannon would be better (thay have 3t allso, so the 7 s guns is allmost overkill)

stelth teams, is it worth in sutch a small battle??

yes your porbably right about the shas'o then...i didnt really know much about the SoB.....just bear in mind that the shas'o still wont win comabt if surrounded by numerous specialist assault troops.....taking the burst cannon instead of missile pod could be useful if the opponent has no tanks or 4+ save troops so i think you have applied good logic here!

nope shoot the seraphims first, remember the seraphim are not faster than the commander so they cannot close with him

I played a 500point game against SoB.. They had heavy bolters.. i got screwed over..

I'd suggest something along the lines of a Shas'el with missile pod and burst cannon.. that gives you the ranged power as well as the troop killing capabilities.. (or the fireknife combo - plasma, missile, multitracker).. then with the actual game.. keep your FW out of LOS of any heavy bolters etc.. and make sure that if the SoB move.. they're in range of your pulse rifles.. Don't get stuck like how i did where i was out of range but in LOS of the heavy bolters :S.. and just got shot up and then assualted..

All those suggestions are fine. The solid base of FW should damage his sisters, but the seaphim can be a hassle. Just a side note, I've always seen people rush their assult troops foward so fast, it leaves them vulnerable and not very effective, anyone see different stratigies? Rich do you know what kind of inquisitor he plays with, just out of curiosity?

Ok ok ok ok. If you are fighting Sisters I suggest you read this:

It is a report of a battle I fought with sisters with similar forces. I lost but I hurt my enemy bad. I did not move my firewarriors around and instead had my Shas'O w/ two bodyguards and 2 drones duke it out with the sisters mono ar mono style. Not a very good idea for the whole battle but believe me if you charge the Seraphime which you might if they get close then a Shas'O and his bodyguard can kick some serious rear especially if your opponent gets scared and targets your Shas'O allot you can take allot of saves and make them and the drones help block power weopon hurts. So read the report and it will give you an idea of what a battle vs sisters is like and it may offer some hints as to what to do and it may show some weaknesses or strengths with your army. Hope it helps good luck.

Oh and a sum up of suggestions from me. Draw the Seraphime forth. I would place your firewarriors on either flank with a line of fire down the center and leave your command and any other suits in the center to draw the Seraphime. Keep back enough to avoid emediate cc and shoot them first then charge to finish them off. I know it sounds crazy Tau charging against cc specialists but out of a squad of 10 my Shas'O killed 6 in cc and 2 in shooting so you can do it you just have to be carefull about moral. Charging helps you get more wounds and so win the moral and I would suggest not following the Seraphime to close to the sisters and make sure to try and draw the other sisters forward aswell to your fireing squads. Splitting your firewarriors insures that they cannot all be taken down at once with sweeping assaults so if one flank fails the sisters still have to charge the others. Missil pods and burst cannon are good against them though the 3+ save will be nail bitteing annoying. Again I hope this helps and good luck. Kovash Tauva!
