Default How often do you deepstrike suits?

Well? I was just curious. Mainly because I am very interested in the Positional relay, because I am not lucky with the scatter dice (today I deepstruck 16 gun drones off the table and one commander into difficult terrain so he died).

Simply and personally, never. I just dont find its worth it. Too risky, too unreliable too count on. I need to know what my units can do and when and not knowing whether a pricey suite will come turn 2 or turn 6 is a problem. The positional relay and a pathfinder fish can help this quite a bit but they dont fit with my style.

in pts below 2k, i spend an elite slot for a suicidal 'vre who's loaded with tank killing weapons and other stuff to keep him alive afterwards.

I'm a big proponent of pathfinders as well.

So usually i keep that one suit in reserve to do the deep strike as well as a unit of drones.

but for other standard issue suits, I generally DONT deep strike them as they're more than likely to get blasted and assaulted if they're to be effective on deployment. not safe.

I haven't really tried it that much but I'm thinking of doing it more with my helios unit.

Every game and it works great, putting in a 3 man crisis unit with fb/pr - pr/mp - pr/mp with 2 shield drones behind your enemy is awsome and you are almost assured to do lots of damage.

Anything under 1k, it isn't worth it (to my disadvanatage) and anything over 2k it isn't worth it either (waste of pionts, little redundancy).

Ehh now that I look at it I suppose it is best for cheap sunforges/helios and not my wondersuits.

If I have a pathfinder devilfish, and a lack of JSJ capable cover, I'll deepstrike my crisis. Otherwise, it's better to simply start them on the table, or infiltrate if you're stealthsuits.

I deep strike like it was my job.

Just kidding, but for my all-comers list my 'O does have a relay. I DS occasionally during normal games but the inability to do the assault jump hurts. I find that it really shines against heavy armour lists. When back armor is your only target, DSing stealths, Helios suits, and even Deathrains (if you're desperate) works wonders. It basically won me a game against Armored Company.

Points wise, it's probably best just to drop drones, or cheap suits, because chances are they'll either get shot to pieces or assaulted next turn. I have thought about DSing a 'tank' suit though (stims, armor, shield drones). There might be a chance that he weathers the storm and the enemy must commit units to stop him from melting stuff for the rest of the game.

DS is also a great distraction technique. Most units we can strike are notorious and the opponent might just go out of his way to destroy it leaving you with more options. On paper using suits as a speed bump of sorts is bad, but if you're smart, realize that you could commit other units, and still take care of objectives, it might be worth it.

It really just comes down to tactical flexability. It's very nice to be able to DS, when you want to cover a good 48" with J-S-Jing or whatever. DSing is also keeps your units protected from enemy fire until they drops so what it comes down to is tactics and preference.

I have a suicide shas'ui with twin-linked fusion and targetting array
i have blown up landraiders, Russ, predators, and loads of other
high prices viechels with this guy and one thing to remember is that he
can take stuff, he isnīt a lictor or some other special unit for those kind
of jobs, he is terribly enjoin for the enemy and he is really cheap as well.

i donīt deep strike my three fire-knife suits, the work together with my pathfinders. i do have a commander to deep strike as well but that depends
on the situation.

a cheap deepstrike suit is good to have
