Default A very interesting commander concept - anti infantry

Hey I just though up of a cheap and interesting commander - this combination is intended for a shas'el

Shas'el
TW. burst cannon
CIB
Drone controller
multitracker
shield generator
2X gun drones

total pts:102 pts

This guy can potentially shoot 10 shots. However I think this guy can be improved or something to that extend. What do youo guys think?

Twin-Linked Burst Cannons are 2 hard points, so you have a total of 4 (Shield Generator and Cyclic Ion Blaster being the other 2). So drop something. I'd suggest the Shield Generator, as it's mainly a point sink, since JSJ should keep you alive (and IC status, once those drones are dead).

If you're facing a mainly light infantry army, that would be an ideal commander (possibly with an AFB armed Shas'Vre in an elite slot as backup). The great thing about the CIB is it's effective against all forms of infantry, from Guardsmen to Terminators. I wouldn't use it simply because I feel that Crisis Suits should stick to the special weapons only they can carry, and let the Stealth Suits and Fire Warriors deal with hordes.

A high ROF does best on something that won't miss more than 20% of its shots. Personally, for a Shas'El I use plasma instead of a burst cannon, and 3rd hardpoint is target-array (multi's hardwired). not as many shots as a burst cannon, but more power and AP behind it. that way your commander slaughters terminators, marines, carapace troops AND GEQ/hordes.

Oh sorry. I accidently typed in the shield generator. My shas'o have that. :P

The gun drones is to increase his increase his offense and defence in a sense. The drones are the meat shields and adds up to his ROF. However they make him less of an independent character.

Nova, I also agree about the plasma rifle, but I kinda want to make the shas'el a little different than my shas'o, which is a helios. I intended for him to use markers as a way to increade his BS, but maybe the TA will do a better job.

Not bad! I think I like your dude. Makes me thinking of making an HQ heavy Tau force, My Shas´O has two bodyguards, and all packs plasma weaponry, a fusion blaster and the Shas Ó also have the CIB, since there is the chance of getting the AP1 shots. My termie/marine light vehicle slaughter team ;D

It would be rather HQ heavy but a ShasÉl for anti-infantry does not seem to bad...

Thanks, Ra'meses.

I have a heavy vehicle and crisis army, so I dopn't often have the anti infantry weapons in their masses, and thus I created him.

You can't take Twin BC, CIB and a Shield Gen. you only have 3 hardpoints and twinlinked weapons take two.

I used an anti-infanty commander agains't guard today, Shas'El with AFP(I know it wastes his BS but I had no other suits; it was a 600 point game :P) BC and VRT. A bit more expensive but in combination with Railgun sub-munitions it made a massive wreck of his all infantry guard company.

For a cheaper alternative, go with Flamer (for close work) BC and CIB.

i honestly cant stand the CIB. it wounds, at best on a 4+, and most often on a 5+. you get the gun in the hope that you roll 6s to wound. and that is not good enough for me. like, its only useful against gaunts and guardsmen out of cover, and the odd eldar. there are better weapons. the airfrag for instance is a far better horde mucher. thump. ordnance pie plate. no cover saves!

to be honest, i don´t like using drones with any sort´s of suits.........

despite that fact i think he would work quite well against mass army´s, if he manages to survive...... due to the loss of the IC status it´s "quite easy" to get rid of him, and even the shield generator won´t fix that....

@deadnight:

from what i read from your post i think you never tried the cib.......... give it a try, it is a really nice weapon (if your suit has BF 5).......

my opponents are all T4; 3+Sv and T4; 2+ and he does quit a nice job..... >
