Shas'o commander~160 points
Cyclic ion blaster
Air frag pro
muilti
Iridium Armour
Stimulant injector
Shield drone

i like this setup but im wondering why alot of you dont for some reason. but imma noob and have yet to see combat whats wrong with the set up and why?

For one thing, the AFB is a waste of his bs5, as it doesn't need to roll to hit. The Iridium Armor makes his jsj very sketchy and unreliable. The shield drone blows away his IC status. Replace the AFB with a plasma, take away the Iridium armor (not required, you can still play him very well with it on), and either add another shield drone ( in that case maybe put back the iridium, as he's gonna take some fire), or take away the shield drone,
hard wire the MT and add a shield gen, and take away the iridium, as he will not be under as much fire.


Here's how my commander for Medusa is configured:


Shas' O, Plasma R., Fusion, Multi-T, Vectored Thrusters. Stims., BSF
135 pts. Used as a "Ninja'O" to kill heavy inf and tie up squads. Also equipped for handling vehicles.

In most games I replace the fusion with a CIB and take away the bsf to save a couple of points, but that's my usual starting point.

You may want to ditch the ABFP because, like Nuke said, it is a complete waste of your commander's BS. You commander's BS is the best in your army, and you should use it to its full potential. I see that your weapons setup has a lot of weakness towards vehicles and heavily armoured troops, though, (cyclic ion blaster usually doesn't get more then one AP 1 shot per turn), so you would probably do good with replacing the ABFP with a plasma rifle or fusion blaster. Hard-wire the multi-tracker and give him a shield generator instead of a shield drone so he can have his independent character status back.

Besides that it looks like a pretty good list.

what i do is take a full team

shas'o body Gard 1 body Gard 1
cyclone ion blaster plasma rifle fusion blaster
missile pod missile pod missile pod
H.W muilty tracker H.W muilty tracker H.W muilty tracker
shield genorator H.W target lock H.W target lock
target array target array

this set up allows me to take down a full terminator team in good conditions
it also allows me to take down light armor from a distance

many thanks! after a little tweeking here's the revised one:

ok now here's a little less noobish and im pretty sure the only thing you guys can point out wrong is that i still have the frag projector on him, and the only reason i do is b/c i cant field it anywhere else, so i stuck on him. i know its a waste of bs, but i really do want to field the most of the special issue system so i gave it to him.

oh forgot to mention im fielding farsight, this is my secound commander. a very tradtional tau setup, troops handeling other troops, non-organics handling tanks, commanders kicking total ass.... ;D

Really dude, we weren't kidding. Take that ABFB off your commander and put it on a normal crisis ('Vre only). I'd replace it with either a plasma or fusion...You DO know that Crisis Shas Vre's can take spec. issue, right

Since your need 1+ Crisis teams with a Farsight army, you might as well take the AFP on a Shas'vre Crisis suit.

I usually dont meddle with peoples set ups to much, but as the others say, dont waste a Shas'Os BS like that. You dont have many in your army with that nice BS, use it right, and use weapons that require a BS test.
If you had three weapons on him , say two weapons that require BS test and one none BS test weapons it would be fine by me, as the none bs Weapon would be a backup (though a waste of points if its a AFP imo).

But then again, I like when people do something outside the box, and if you really like the setup, dont listen to us. Use what ever you think is fun to play, and of course, that looks good

It's truly sad to see that when the new 'Dex came out Helios have died away...

Try using a Helios suit, they are super fun! They can hunt heavies and tanks. Nothing can stop them (except some Orks :P)

Shas'O with Plasma Rifle, Fusion Blaster, Multi Tracker. The rest is up to you, but I like stims.

The easiest thing to do is make up your own paint scheme. If that's not customizing nothing is.

I actully use the same commander setup you described above minus the:

Iridium Armour
Stimulant injector
Shield drone

Someone also said the AFB is a waste of BS, well over the past 2 days not counting the CIB, JUST the ABF i have killed:

11 Terminators
6 marines
9 IG troops

and thats just monday and Tuesday of this week, mind you i had some good rolls and my enemy DID get his armor save because the AP is high. The weapon is still gold and the number speak for themselfs. Its great against normal marines, not bad against terminators, and gold agains IG, Nids etc.
