Default What else do Tau need for their army?

Personally id like to see a 'proper' fast attack unit, some sort of non-vehicle unit which can move 12" in the movement phase and fire.....as for elites i'd like to see a sniper unit....in troops id like to see more weapons choices in teams...as for heavy support i think thats just fine....and for HQ some sort of ethereal bodygaurd aun'el, aun'vre? that could act as a bodygaurd for an ethereal and would actually be good in cc!

A devilfish with 2 sort of ball turrts in the side doors with Rail Rifles of T-L pulse rifles and a twin liked missile pod turrt, might try it sumtime

Although i play mech tau id like to see a sniper unit so rail guns wouldnt need to be depentent upon for taking out vehicles or incerdibly tough units, something like the tau equivilant of a ranger/pathfinder

Tau snipers, 0-1 elite choice
Name* * * * * * Pts* * *WS* BS* *S* *T* *I* *W* * Ld* *Sv
Shas'ui sniper* * * *22* * * *2* * 3* * 3* * 3* *2* *1* * *8* * 4+

4-8 in a squad

Weapons: Tau sniper rifle (hits on 2+, wounds on 4+, hits of* 5, and 6 are AP1)
Special rules: can get EMP and photon grenades for +3, and +1 points per member,
* * * * * * * * * can take a move before battle to give them effectivly the infiltrators special rule
* * * * * * * * * always have a 5+ cover save...they add 1+ to their cover save normally
* * * * * * * * * one member of the squad may be upgraded to a shas'ui team leader for 5+ points, he may select extra equipment from the armoury

EDIT: should have said, tau sniper range is 36" and is heavy 1 pinning sniper

Fast Attack is rather lacking in anything interesting, and yes, Fire Warriors could do with a few new weapons.

I'd say for tau fire warrior extra weapons up to 1/4 of the team rounding down may exchange their pulse rifle/carbine for:

a Tau sniper rifle (as described by Village Idiot) for +10pts
a burst cannon +10pts
a flamer +8pts
a rail rifle +12pts

no more than 2 of each extra weapon may be included in the squad

interesting thread. first, i'd like kroot hounds not to take up a fast attack slot -- same with the oxen. i find that one squad taking up three slots on a force org chart is a bit......limiting.

as far as troops go, i'd say snipers are a good idea. pathfinders that don't have to take a devilfish would be nice. or, failing thatl, i'd like the pathfinders to have their own dedicated vehicle that is similar to the devlifish, but more heavily armed, perhaps with the config mentioned above.

and yes, a fast attack craft that is actually fast would be cool.

and i'd like some or all of the forge world unit and weapons options to become canon.

Thinking about it....snipers would be more suited to a 0-1 troops choice....for ideas on new units i like to surf the house rules...and farsight coedx formu areas for ideas.

Well on other forums Ive had allot of discussion about Tau and their units and as far as I see the only thing needed are more auxilaries. We have kroot and humans but we could always use more since that is the Tau thing. As for fast attack and the like Forge World has that covered with the Tetras, Pirhana, turrets, conversions etc. So no real need for anything more scept some official troops and maybe another HQ choice.
