Default Multitracker Questions

Hey everybody, first post here and I just wanted to clear something up. I apologize if this has been beat to death before but I just can't figure it out. My problem is this: A multitracker "enables a model to fire two battlesuit weapon systems in the same turn." Since twin linked weapons counts as two battlesuit weapons systems, it seems to me that a model must be equipped with some form of multitracker to be able to make use of them. However, in the case of XV-88's, they come standard with twin-linked rail rifles, although I can't find anywhere in the rules or unit description that says ther are equipped with a multitracker. So then, does the codex really mean to say that a twin-linked weapon requires to empty slots, or does it really mean "A single-mounted weapon counts as a single battlesuit weapons system, a twin-linked weapon counts as two."

My main concern here is if the third battlesuit system for XV-8's MUST be a multitracker if taking a twin-linked weapon if a hard-wired multitracker is unavailable. Thanks for your comments, and again sorry if this is old hat.

First of all, welcome to Tau Online!

Secondly, you can use the search function if you are worried this may have been said before, which, after searching myself, cannot seem to find, since I got a ton of army lists with the key words "multitracker" and "twinlinked".

Thirdly, I would think that a twin-linked weapon, technically, does need a multitracker to work, but that's not what GW meant, and in the terms of a multi-tracker, the twin-linked weapon only counts as one weapon, not two.

K thanks, that's what I thought too, just wanted to make sure. I had also tried the search function, with the same results, a couple of times prior to posting. If i ever want to see army lists, however, I definitely know what to do in the future

Twin-Linked weapons are realy a single weapon system taking up two hard points - you never need a Multitracker to use a TL weapon. A Broadside can fire it's railguns normally, but would need a Multitracker to launch off Smart Missiles (or Plasma Rifle shots) in the same turn.

On the same note, can you take 3 different weapons and HWed multitracker and still fire 3 weapons a round?

Wait... I thought that you could only fire two weapons a round no matter what.

No, you can't - you ought to read the rules before advising other people on them :.

Edit: And I ought to read carefully before getting snippy, in my defense the lack of a question mark made it look like a statement.

Nope, you can't fire three weapon systems at once. Multi-tracker only allows two.
