Default A melee unit

Tau are currenttly mostly made of ranged warriors. Does anybody think that the Tau need some sort of Tau that specialize in melee combat with big tau katana thingies?

final answer.

The reason, because tau are ALL about shooting and technology. You shoot the enemy so you don't have to worry about combat. If it looks like you might get in it you just pack 'em up in their fishys and fly away. Kroot actuallly can be amazing in combat if used correctly.

If I had the power to smite, I would almost had used it.

Read the forum rules. There should not be any CC Tau. Period.

Tau have lousy close-range depth perseption, poor reflexes, and unexeptional physical strength and durability.

A unit with "big tau katana thingies" would not only make Aun'Shi turn to Khorne just for an excuse to end the madness, it would also be a bigger risk of friendy fire than it would be a threat to the enemy!

why don't honour guards have better WS?

would that be slightly reasonable?

if tau, had tau thats could fight well, well they'd be that much closer to being marines. and i for one dont want another all around army, i like the tau weakness to CC

Sure, ethereal honour blades. Which are on useless units. Or O'Shovah, who actually is pretty good. The trend? They are exceptional in Tau. Which also makes everyone want them....

that what makes tau different and that what i like there not SM there tau use there strength to your advantage

Tau are all shooty because, in the beginning, GW wanted them to DIE HORRIBLY, sales-wise and performance wise. They were an experiment.

Instead they got a fanbase, lived, and fought back. An experiment that worked, and worked well.

One of the sure-kills was NO CC help whatsoever, with the exception of Aun'shi. Now Aun'shi is gone, or turned into a 'standard' etherial with an honor blade.
