Default Why no Aun'shi?

Many at my local hobbystore said that Aun'shi is an element outside of the army he is attatched with- a CC special character positioned in a long-range army. This is why he was removed.

Yet, i feel compelled to use his model and his old stats from the old codex, just to have Aun'shi still alive again and worth playing. As it stands now, etherials are not as desireable as they once were (unless you take them for the sake of their bodyguard). Aun'shi seemed to just...rock. I had a friend of mine who's played longer than I have assault other armies with Aun'shi and the firewarriors, and win combat....

Has anyone tried to take a battle with Aun'shi and his old stats? Would anyone agree to playing a game with/against Aun'shi and his old stats? Do you think Aun'shi would conflict with what's currently present in the codex?

Just thoughts. I'm surprised this character was taken out of the codex really, since there's no fluff explaination for his absnece. Then again, GW doesn't operate in terms of fluff anyway...

he's not broken or anything, he's kind of just like space marine with a 'sometimes' power sword, he won't win battles but he's awsome in a counter attack.

Guess what! So do I. They released an errata on Aun'shi and said that he was a normal Etheral now. No super cool parrying or anything like that.

I converted mine. Alot of people in my store thinks that my Aun'shi looks like soul reaver, since he is blue and have white war tattoo around his body.

I bought him for a pretty cheap price and now he is my ethereal, but I don't use him alot at all. :P

Yes with the 2000 year old Space Pope.

I never really realized Aun'shi's potential until now. I mean, he can kill tanks rather well (EMPs), has rending, has a bunch of S5 attacks, WS5, has a 4+ invulnerable save, and just looks completely badass. I mean, a Tau mass murdering tons of Orks with a spear/halberd thing and leaving without a scratch.

I miss him too. :'(

And Aun'shi is the figureative flesh-lawnmower for the Tau and whomever he's applied with.

Pondering the possibility of getting and painting Aun'shi- then having him as my HQ with my opponent's concent. I'd just point out all the negatives in his character (C'mon, he's an etherial...), until I get in assault...

then again the store manager would probably shake his head, smile, and ruin my fun by saying I can't do that.
