Default The missions topic...

I like a lot doing strange missions...
I'm getting a little bored of the victory points missions and i enjoy a lot the missions with alternative victory conditions...

Did you ever thought about a cool scenario to do with your friends? (possibly involving tau)
If so post it here and share it with the community... :-*

I have a large one for you that I'll probably never will complete, though I'd love to play it;

6x4 board, wreckage site with a crashed Manta in the center.
From FW pics I imagine that will take most of the board, and I guess that the Manta is at least 3 levels high, hangar on the top one.

So build the board with the wreck at an angle (front below ground) and in layers (top, center, and cargo areas below those) so that you can fight top-down against the Orks or whatever that got to the site first.

Missions; pretty much anything you like, such as getting the spare weapons from the cargo hold in time to meet the marines dropping in as we speak - or just a *real* 3D cleanse

Ive actually had a lot of thoughts on boarding actions. I mean there was space hulk but I didnt think that made much sense. Instead I was considering of making an entire board that is done as the inside of say a Tau or Imperial Vessel, obviously just a small section and would require some changes. For instance no monsterous creatures and no vehicles. You would have tighter quarters where close combat and close ranged firefights abound but with a few larger open areas like a wide, long central corridor, a command deck, perhaps a small hanger or mess room etc that offer an opportunity for more shooting oriented units to fall back to and lay down fire etc. I just always thought it would be an interesting thing to try.

You can also try using some of the more special rules such as cityfight (new cities of death anyone?) or jungle fight. They offer a lot of possibilities for new ways of gaming.

very hard.

Sometimes, you can make a game fun by making it a "race."

For example, a game on a 6x4 board with multiple objectives (small ones, maybe large ones too).

Objectives:

Supply Depot, Command Relay Comms, Storage House, Smuggled Arms, etc. Inside a bunker that is A13 on all sides with structure points (use VDR rules for the structure points). Lay down 3+D3 objectives like this. Each one is worth 250 victory points, if destroyed. Half points for damaged, but not completely destroyed.

Roaming Beast, Escaping Mutants, Spy Bots, etc. A small very tough and relatively quickly moving unit of a few models strong (based on the type, stronger = less models, but never more than about 8 models regardless of type). You can mix types (ie: have a few strong units, a few weaker ones). These units start in locations where you and your opponent take turns deploying them (just like loot counters). They do not attack, and always move away from the nearest enemy (you and your opponent). They move as normal infantry. You get 150 victory points for completely destroying a unit. You get half if they're below 50% starting strength. There can be 3+D3 objectives like this.

Round 'em up. Pop the cans.

See which of you, between you and your opponent, can wrack up the points first!

Cheers!

I made a ruleset for a 40K of 40K campaign (that's 40,000 point armies...just not all on the board at the same time).

Wrote the fluff for it, made strategic maps, even incorporated Battlefleet Gothic and made a Tau BFG fleet list (this was before the Tau had a list of their own).

The theme was a rebellious breakaway colony that sought aid from the Tau sfter throwing off the shakles of the false Emperor. "The Battle of Spero Novus" was the name of it.

Yep, just a bit compulsive, aren't I?
