Default Hammerhead or broadside

What unit is better at tank hunting, broadsides or hammerheads?

well they both have the same gun but a broadside is twin-linked. i can't remember which has better bs (probably hammerhead) but you can use a targeting array on a broadside. you can also have a team of broadsides too. but the hammerhead has the movement.

uh...... i have no idea but does that help any? i would probably go with the hammerhead for mobility but if you have a clear shot go with broadsides because the hammerhead can go around the terrain to get a better shot.

Generally speaking, the likelihood of a hit from either a Railhead or a Broadside is almost identical (66.6% hit probability from the Hammerhead, and 75% from a Broadside).

Hammerheads are more likely to be able to get that shot off as they can move 12" and fire (assuming a multitracker is used). Broadsides are cheaper, so you can buy more for your buck, points-wise.

I would use a Hammerhead if you play a very mobile game, and a Broadside may be the way to go if you have a large static component (fire warriors without fish, sniper teams or lots of kroot).

broadside are just a better shot with that twin-link railgun i take two in a 1500pt just in case some SM player brings that landraider or any other big tank

while statistically you will have broadsides being the superior Tank hunter (and they cost less points) you also have to look at it realistically. the Hammer head is far more mobile then the broadsides, allowing for it to jump out from behind cover more quickly, get a side shot more easily, and to get support everywhere. iut is all around the obvious choice if yo need a pinch hitter unit for you army.

Broadsides on the other hand move very slowly (6" maximum with A.S.S.) and if they moce they cannot shoot (unless using aforementioned A.S.S.) so they are less mobile. now point for point the braodsides get 2 railguns and are still cheaper then the HH.

i honestly think it is best to use the Hammerheads railgun as a take all thing but occasionally work at least 1 broadside into my list.

I would go for broadside battlesuits over hammerheads twin linked rail guns are way more accurate than the hammerheads plus they are far cheaper so you can have two broadsides to one hammerheads.

yeh broadside, twin linked makes em more accurate and also they are a lot more durable than hammerheads. Hammerheads with a simple glancing hit can me immobilised or their weapon destroyed or the entire thing gone, broadsides however can pack shield drones and will take a wound and still fire the next turn ;D

2 A.S.S. broadsides are the same price as a lightly equipped Railhead (multi and burst cannons).

Thus we're talking about 2 railgun shots at 75% hit rate, versus one at 66.6%.

So broadsides are superb anti-armor... Like a devastator squad, but better... and more expensive.

However, the hammerhead IS quite a bit faster, uses submuntion rounds when needed, and is a lot harder to catch up with (though not necessarily kill what with glancing hits), making it slighly less capable against armor, but quite nice against hordes/infantry.
