Default Sky Ray confusion

Well, I decided I want I Sky Ray in my army eventually, but I'm a little confused about how it fires it's seeker missles. I have a few questions prepared here;

1) In the new codex, it says it is equipped with 6 turret-mounted seeker missles, are those the only seeker missles it has, or does it just say there are six but you can fire as many as you want?

2) It says it can launch it's own missles, but do the missles still need a markerlight target

3) What other things do you need or should you consider to make your Sky Ray work perfectly?

If anyone can answer these questions please reply

Ok, well* ;D...
to fire, you need to hit the target with a markerlight first- this can be either of the ones on the skyray or any other one. Then you can launch any of the six missles on the skyray at the marked atrget, hitting on a 2+. You can launch alll 6 at the same target on the same turn if you want. Roll to wound and save as normal, remembering the AP3.
The skyray has only 6 seeker missles that may only be used once each- once they are gone you will only have your secondary armment assuming it has't been destroyed and the tow markerlights. Note that the markerlights are not twin linked and fire seperately.
One question I do have is what happens on a weapon destroyed result on a skyray- so you lose all 6 missles or just one ???

Hope I helped,

Just FYI, the Skyray has two Networked Markerlights.

As has been mentioned here in the past, the Seeker Missiles are only half of the reason to take a Skyray. With enough skimmers, 6 Seekers are pretty easily to field, and for far less cost than the Skyray. What you are really paying for is those Markerlights. With the right equipment, they are the most accurate and mobile Markerlights we can field, and are also far harder to kill or bypass than a unit of Pathfinders.

Seeker missiles are one of the limited ammo weapons in the game. You can only shoot what you have, (6).

The Skyray is equipped with two networked markerlights, (two shots per turn).

Depends on the scenario, SMS is quite helpful in cityfights, (no need of line of sight). You should always give the Skyray a targetting array, though, as the markerlights only hit 50% of the time.

But, as Khanaris said, don't take the Skyray for the Seeker Missiles, three vehicles can get those same missiles for a fraction of the price. It's the markerlights you want, added with the skimmer's natural mobile ability, it's a great aid to any units on your side.
