Default Tau are becoming DESTRUCTIVE!

With the release of the new PDF file from

games-workshop, gamers are able to preview and try out some of the new rule changes

implemented in the 40k 4th edition rule book! Now, for the Greater Good, Tau can

utterly lay waste while being even more mobel, as they should. Here is a list of

the new Tau advantages.

-Tau Jetpacks move 12" and can make a further

move in the assault phase of 6"
-Tau Crisis suits count as being stationary

still for rapid fire purposes.
-Gundrones, Crisis Teams, and Stealthsuits gain the

mobility they initially when the Tau were first conceived
-Assault hazards have been

declined.
-Tau can disembark and rapid fire! Fire Warriors Gain manverability

with the devilfish that they initially should have gotten

The new shooting

rules does make the broadsides juicy targets for anti-tank weaponry, but meh, Small

sacrifices must me made.
Question, to anyone who has read the new PDF file.

When you attempting to fire at a unit that is blocked by 2 other units. Do you make

1 LD check to fire at the 3rd unit ( IE, broadsides), or would you have to make 2 LD

checks to bypass the first two units (IE. firewarrior unit 1, FireWarrior unit 2).

Crisis suits always counted as being

stationary for the purposes of rapid fire.

The leadership thing dosn't

apply if you are trying to target artillary. I'm guessing that will mean XV88

XV88's are

not artillery for starters.

secondary, Codex always overwrites rulebook,

meaning that this is a real screw up. Since this is a new one, it should overwrite . This

will cause many arguments, so its just safer to take the old rules untill GW recitfy this

screw up.

GW say that all

Codexes are still in effect so in relation to battlesuits moving 12" is going

against the Codex. But apart from that, all other things you have said are ineffect. Note

this is also a double edge sword, the enemies that assault get some advantages such as

counting full number of attacks even when not within b2b contact (but still 2" away

).

Actually, when a codex comes out

it superceds the BBB. However, when new rulings come out they supercede the codex, since

the codex is out dated compared to the new rules. This happened before involving

Tyranids. I'll look for the example. Also, Tau are the only units with Jet

packs. The other races have jump packs, so why would they add this in? Also, they

other races gain advantages as well with bike movement etc... So, why would they limit

the Tau? The new rules are encouraging a game based on close fire fights and alot

of mobility. I've already played a game with the Tau vs Ulthwe Eldar using the

new rule system. If you would like me to post a battle report, simply ask. If

no one wants it then I won't bother wasting my time with it .

These new rules

don't supersede the codex, thats just the point! Otherwise, in the Tau Codex they

would say that the Tau Jetpacks function just like Jumppacks in the 40k rulebook, but

their don't (because the Eldar jetbikes entry in the Codex says that apart from that

6" assault move thing, they function just like how it says in the Rulebook). With

the Tau, it doesn't and follow a different set of rules as given in the Codex.

Unless it states "moves as if equipped with jump pack" then it doesn't

cover Tau battlesuits!

Hey, sure thing! I'll

make it out and post it in the battle report forum. Also, go to games-workshops

game developments board. New rules always ALWAYS supercede the codex. Why

would they mention Jump/Jet packs gain 12" movement then mention Jets gain a free

move in the assault phase when TAU are the only race with Jetpacks ???.

Exactly. Go to these msg boards and see if Tau gain the new movement, cause they

do.

Battlesuits have moved away from being balanced to becoming beardy. And ppl moan

about Wraithlords!
