Default Devilfish - capacity of units ?

The Codex says Devilfish have capacity for 12 firewarriors.

Is Devilfish strictly assigned to one unit ?
Can I take different units on board , like : one 6 Tau squad of FW and 6 pathfinders ?

Unfortunately, yes, they are assigned to one unit. So no, you can't take two small squads in one'fish, and if the squad that takes it dies, you can't transport a different squad.

Stuff like this has been discussed before in WD. There was a really funny fluff piece involving the line "Oh no, Squad 6 has taken the Rhino again!?"

Think of it this way; when u have a transport in your army it is 'purchased' and it can then only interact with the unit that it is purchased for.

WD is White Dwarf (correct me if i'm wrong)

also i was alwas under the impression that after the fish had dropped off its squad it could go and pick up another one ???

Nope...it states in the codex (and probably the rulebook) that transports are purchased for a single squad and cannot transport other squads, even if the squad is was purchased for is completely wiped out. A little weak, yes, but I can just imagine the abuses that would prevail were this rule to be scratched.

correct me if im rong but with pathfinders i usaully drop em off of the fish and transport another sqaud

Well, I can't find anything in the codex about the rule of only taking one squad, can someone give a page reference?
