well what do you guys think ive been thinking about buying either the barracuda or the tiger shark. i want to use them to counter the ships that an elysian drop player uses and to add some more mobility to my mech army. is it worth it?

I would go with the Barracuda. The Tiger Shark is not really optimized for use as an interceptor. Depending on the variant used, it is either a heavy drone transport or a Titan-killer. The Barracuda is a better interceptor. If enemy flyers are really giving you trouble, I would also suggest sticking in a Skyray with an AA mount.

hehe, try using a tigershark ax-10! it has railguns, and its pretty and...urr...well its rubbish at an interseptor role. as said earlier, an skyray with AA would be a good choice

This could be solved if only they'd give Space Marines access to Commissars. "I'm sorry brother Amaleius, there isn't room for you in the transport" *BANG*. "Alright, men, let's get moving".

Nice thing about the Tigershark AX-10 is its a twin linked, S7 Ap3 large blast template, perfect for killing whole marine squads in one shot.

Railcannons are useless if you are not facing a super-heavy. As what Karn said, baracudas are more piont-effective and an better interceptor. However, the tigershark will last slightly longer than a baracuda.

What ships is he using Valkryies and Vultures?

Barracuda would be good along with the skyray with the AA placed on it. Also do the Valkyries/Vulture gunship make a difference? I am starting an Elysian army, so I am curious.

The mass firepower of 2 squads of FW should down any aircraft he fields.

Maybe or maybe not. I just read the rules and shooting at flyers and it is kinda cool. I don't know if I can say why but those 12" can make a differece.

Plus there are no real rules for aircraft to aircraft shooting so just get SkyRay or two. *** Unless you want to use the Fighter-Intercept rule in IA3, these are trial rules.***
