Default Order question

I was wondering weither you have to shoot guess weapons before other weapons like if I shot a Burst Cannon at 18inchs and then a Airburst at the same squad guessing 18inchs because i would already know how far 18inches was being that i shot my burst cannon before it.
would this be legal?...

To my knowledge guess weapons no longer exist in 40k. They took it out with 4th edition. Now you place your template where you want to hit and then measure to see if you are in range.

No. Guess weapons simply mean you roll for scatter.

As far as I understand, a nominated squad (the squad you've chosen to shoot) has to fire it's Guess range weaponry first, then it's other weapons.

So, if you had 2 Monat Crisis Suits standing really close together, and one shoots something like a Missile Pod at a target, you'd still be able to fire an AFB on the other Suit on the same target. However, if you have both those Suits in the same squad, then the AFB has to be fired first (even if either of them has a target lock, or both).

Though I don't have the 4th edition Rulebook with me right now, so I can't be certain.

you'll want to do the blast weapons first anyways. once its declared you're firing at that unit you fire the barrage, and if you get a good hit you might get a good number of wounds...

then you roll the hits for the other weapons. at least that's how I understood it.

I think you first declare you're firing at the unit then you measure. If you're not in range, tough.

I read that if you are under then you don't get to shoot then either. Is this correct?

I would say so, as you've already declared you're attempting to fire at X squad.

And, chances are, they're usually the closest (if they're not, you better be damn sure you're in range and firing at the right target to risk that test).

I think that first you nominate a unit, look for LOS and target priority and all that, then put down the large blast marker (for AFP) centered on an enemy model and measure range to the center of the hole. If its out of range, no effect. If it's in range, then you roll for scatter, which may take it out of range, and then roll to wound and save.
