Default Crisis Suit Attack Number?

Ok, I was playing against a friend tonight (

total noob here) with my 500pt army. This was only my 2nd real game using Tau and I

realized something was kinda unclear regarding number of shots and the multi-tracker.

Here is the setup of the unit(s) in question

Shas'vre <br /

>Missile Pod
Plasma Rifle
Fusion Blaster
Multi-Tracker
(Sub-question:

You can have 4 items if they are Shas'Vre right?)

So I have a multi-

tracker so I can fire 2 weapons systems per turn. How does that work with the already

default 2 attacks?

A.) 2 attacks from each weapon system
B.) 1 attack

from each weapon system (The only gain being you can shoot 2 kinds instead of 2 from 1

kind)
C.) 2 attacks from one weapon system, 1 attack from the other weapon system

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hmm. I am taking you don't

have the rule book. You should get it, its very enlightening. To answer your question:

An XV8 has three hard points that you must put somthing on. If it isn't

the standad elite choice it can have a hard wired system. The multy tracker allowes you

to use two wepon systems (ie guns) per turn. The usual stats number of shots, applys.

Welcome to the forums.

The attack

characteristic on their profileis purely for combat (unless your Tyranids, but thats

different). Normally each foot slogging unit (i.e. not tanks) unit in 40k can only fire

one gun per turn, but certain units (Battlesuits, Wraithlords and Dreadnoughts can fire

more, as given in the revelant codex.

This is why people should read the Codex

before assembling their models. The amount of times I've seen appauling Crisis Suit

layouts in unbelievable (4 weapons seem common...).

>Thanks for your help. I do have the codex and the rulebook. I have read through both

several times and cannot find how many shots you get (total) if you have a multi-tracker

on a unit that already has 2 or more attacks. An ORDINARY XV8 can roll 2 dice (shoot

twice) without the multi-tracker. How many do they roll with the multitracker?

No, the attacks denotes how many dice you get

to use in hand to hand combat. At the end of a wepon stat line it has

"type" then it has the type of wepon and how many shot (dice) it can use (its a

number on its own eg assult 3). The multy tracker alows you to use two wepons, each

with there own number of shots.

Your new to 40k right? If yes you

should go down to GW and play a few games with the staff, you will find it helps your

understanding of the rules alot.

I played a couple with them, one I was

space marines against orcs, and one I was dark eldar against space marines. I am still a

little fuzzy on things that aren't clearly defined and didn't come up in either

of those battles (since they didn't have Tau and my army is still mostly in boxes).

Just let me know if you guys don't like people asking questions and I will stop. I

do my best to look them up first btw

Answering questions is the main reason why we

are here, and asking them is the only way we can learn. The 40k rule book is very

long and the rules are complex. We have all been in your position before, and know

how you feel. please don't be afraid to ask questions.
