Default What WWII Faction would the Tau be?

It has come about amongst friends and fellow games on a time-to-time basis. And I was just curious what you lot thing? I've heard everything from the Free French Forces to the Japanese, who do you think they best correspond to?

You could say Germany due to their Mechanized warfare and the whole cutting off and surrounding ponderous formations, and the fact the Tau are sort of anal about everything giving them a semi-Nazi feeling, y'know? Then again they're very Communist in the whole unity thing and accepting other races. I can't quite vote yet, but I'd love to hear what everyone else thinkss. So yeah, which WWII Faction/Nation resembles the Tau in just about every aspect?

in my opinion i would say the U.S.A. because they were kind of thrust into the war, even though it was one of the last things they wanted to do. that is how i think that the Tau would be about it.

I would say Japanese, because of their mix of traditions and technology. They managed to go from a feudal society to a modern, mechanized army in a remarkably short amount of time, and they were using their military might to expand and capture strategic resources.

I'd say USSR in the way of their philosophy, and Germany in terms of warfare.

Seeing as I believe the Tau way of War is the most interesting, I voted Germany.

i would have to say tau are like usa ..why ?

becasue usa rather do fast attacks with the air force and end the war in like 5 days then send troopss to fight for 100 days ... plus the air force is like a manta

Old codex: Japan. Come on, there was no way you couldn't catch that oriental feel to them!

New Codex: I have no idea, possibly USA?

Tau dont have to be mechanized. Imperium tend to be more mechanized, not to mention many of their tanks & warfare strategies were taken directly from WWII.

Tau dont fight for territorial gain, unlike Germany who tried to take over Europe. So in that case they're like Japan.

Tau try to out tech their enemy, to reduce casualties & try to be the peace keeper force, similar to America.

Though their philosophy is communist influenced, thus why do Tau have to be any single faction? Most factions combine philosophy from many old empires, like Tau apparently has.

As for oriental theme? Of course, they still havnt lost that theme, just they have more technology.

i said they were like germany because of there superior tanks ( i know AV 13 isnt greatest but add in STR and ap, manuevalerablity (sp?) and extras like that) and there fascist ways seem a lot like the tau do, with everyone is under one rule ( the greater good) and shall push forwards and eradicate everyone who does not fit there standards and accept the ones who do.
