Default The New Tau Codex

Ok then people i bought the new tau codex about 2 days ago (wednesday) i had endure a 2 way hour* long motorway trip to preston then had to tramp around town till i got it,

Anyway..... i have finally got to read the codex* ;D (stupid social life) first thing i did was look at the colour section (pretty glossy colours oooh lol) and looked through it ... it really has skimped on the hobby side of things >* and the rules inside it are all over the place . i just think gw has really not put too much effort to make it beginner friendly

Anyway im gonna stop know before i stop making sense all together(i havent slept for 2 days i have just got home and its still light* :-\ just means i cant sleep till it gets dark > )

Wow this is the longest post ive written .... any way..

Lol. The codex is similiar in layout to the Space Marine codex actually. Our codex is actually easier to read than the SM codex since we do not have too many weird and fancy weapons(although we have awesome weapons).

Compared to the old tau codex though, this thing's a mess.

They had such a nice layout... why get rid of it? isn't it LESS WORK to not change the layout instead of redesigning a worse one?

that's certainly how it is with the circuitboards I work on....

It seems fine to me except I'm conviced the special issue weapon pics have the labels mixed in the colour section [and in WD].

Ditto, everything was pretty good, but what really ticked me off what the cut and paste job with all the fluff. There absolutely nothing to get excited about, all the fluff was streamlined into summaries, leaving little to ponder about, its missing the essential hook the keeps people intristed. And to add insult to injury, they wased at least2-3 pages on unnecessary glossy pics (which could have easily been replaced with some decent fluff) like the black and white pic of the original Tau codex cover, and the pic of the Tau army with all the pts listed (some of which is incorrect :) I'm thinking of getting the Taros Campaign book just because I'm sure that will have more fluff then Tau Empire.

One thing i dont like about the new codex is how they didnt put any idea for colours or any pictures of peoples work from gamesday or any conversions for inspiration.

Page 59? That's a lot more detail than what was in the old codex in regards to colour schemes.
