Default Tau Piranha Sculpts

I just got the piranha box of three and i have been glueing them together and i noticed something. The Sculpts for the firewarriors piloting the piranha are really good... They are way more defined in the armor ridges...there helmet actually has a crevace that is deep enough you dont have to paint over it again with black...and one comes with a pointy arm...i always wanted a pointy arm for my Tau ;D. Well anyway...i wish all the firewarriors were sculpted with this much care some of them just suck. If any1 else has gotten a piranha have you noticed this too?

Forge World.

The Pirhana was originally a forgeworld model, which is why its a slightly more complicated kit with a higher level of detail.

The funny thing is I can TELL this kit was made with their new computer doohicky! Look at the drone carbines compared to one you got in a fire warrior or suit box. Notice the indentations on the guns (the space between the pannels) are less rounded?

The new Plastic Piranhas are largely based off the Forgeworld ones. But they have their differences. They've been scanned, and updated digtally, then moulded robotically. And so you have more detail and better clarity and edges.

I just got my Piranha today, and I'm nearly done putting it together. But yeah, I have noticed the higher detail etc.

Just so you know - I believe GW are planning on remoulding their whole range *eventually* with the new computer controlled system. That'll make all the models better eventually

To quote myself from one of the threads in the hobby board:

Evidently the product of the new digital modelling/robotic mouldmaking technology that GW is currently employing and switching to. Very minimal mould lines, as most of the pieces are on one 'half' of the sprue rather than spread across two mould halves.

Important note: The Piranha that you build with the plastic kit will have numerous differences to what is pictured in the images on the box, and website. This is because those pictured - are the resin Forgeworld models - the plastic version has some differences, for better or for worse.

Just out of curiosity what are the differences?

I'm totallly happy with the three I got on Monday (actually that's a lie, I want a 4th one!) but I'm interested to know what changed.

Another difference. The pirhanas you get have the GW-style burst cannon and not the FW one. THE GW one has spaces between the gun barrels and typically comes in 2 halves. The FW one lacks the spaces and is 1 piece

I bought my Piranha's yesterday and it was the last box ... lucky me.

Did you guys know that GW isn't making the 3-Piranha-box anymore? They only make the solo ones and those cost 20 each. (it's 50 for 3-box)
That's just lucky me.

And on topic, yes I noticed the higher detail, did you also notice the small FW? It caught my eye immediately, they're tiny ;D
Hope this greater detail isn't going to cost my more hours painting.

Greetz
