Default question for people with FW battlesuits

Well, i'm thinking of picking up a FW XV81 battlesuit (the one with the back mounted SMS), but before i do i just have a couple of questions for people who already own it, to see what i should expect.

-I noticed that instead of attaching complete weapons directly to hardpoints like GW suits the FW suits seem to have a module thing where you insert the front half of a weapon into a housing on the hardpoints, suggesting that the SMS system on the suit's back can be (if i wanted to for modelling purposes) replaced with say twin-linked PRs or fusion blasters. is this true?

-how many of each weapon does each suit come with?

-are the arms posable?

that's all, thanks.

arms are not posbale the are "L" shaped. I am looking to chop an arm and straighten it out. I think it was 2 of each weapon...Hmmm I did get the battle force box. You can have twinlinked weapons but not 3 of the same weapon.

Flowerfall, I think you are talking about the Games Workshop Crisis. The Forge World Crisis suits are poseable at every visible joint. The shoulder is one piece. There is a second small piece that attaches to the shoulder, providing a horizontal swivel. This piece then attaches to the forearm, providing a vertical swivel. The legs are two pieces joined at the knee instead of a single piece.

The guns attach to the arms as shown.

It is trivial to cut the original plastic weapons down and attach them the same way.

The back-mounted hardpoints on the SMS suit use the same type of weapon connection as the arms, so you could potentially use it to mount twin-linked weapons. The sprue itself comes with resin three Missile Pods, and one resin piece of each of the other weapons. It also comes with a full Crisis sprue. It shouldn't be too hard to convert a few of the plastic weapons to attach to the sockets.

yeah they fw suits are fully possable, they do actually make a XV82 with twin linked plasma's on the back.. the missle pods have a slight extension on the bottom that acts as the join ( in a ball joint way) and i think its easy to alter maybe use magnets or something to have twin linked plasma's... as khanaris said you do get a full crisis suit sprue so you get the weapons to do it... its a great model (i have one) if you can get to nottingham and forgeworld then go and you can check out the pack for yourself

Thanks guys!

one more question: if it comes with a full sprue, then parts on the actual XV8 will be replaced by the FW resin stuff, right? like the back piece of the jetback, the normal legs, etc.

Correct. You end up with a lot of extra parts. Lots of extra arms, legs, and heads. If you buy the special character and the XV-81, you actually end up with an entire extra crisis suit (although you need the extra feet from a broadside kit).
