Default Unarmed commander?

Well, I know it's a silly question, but it has been bothering me since I got the new codex. Would you field an unarmed commander into battle? With all the new goodies that can be set into him (like C&C node, positional relay, vectored thrusters, stim injectors, and so on...) maybe he could be of some use without having to shoot at all.
My unarmed commander would be: Shas'O with Blacksun filter, C&C node, and Positional relay (103 pts). I would use him behind my lines for boosting leadership in target priority checks, and for the reserves rolling (and since it does not pose a threat and it's an IC, maybe the enemy won't shoot him).
Again: I know it's a waste of points, and no one will ever try that (neither me). But, just for guessing, what kind of equipment and role would you give to an unarmed commander?

Unarmed commander?

Highly interesting concept...
Let me be the first to cheese it out...

Commander Marksalot

The battlesuit (duh)
Drone controller w/2 marker drones
Iridium Armor
Shield generator

175 points. More then yours, but then again I'm insane.

As you can see, this macabre commander of mine will be up close and personal with the enemy...er at least close enough for the marker drones to do there job, as well as adding markerlights to the markerlight pool for use by other units, he's a literal tank. all that armor will be useful in soaking up stray shots while you position yourself to get markerlight shots on the enemy and lure them out into the open at the prospect of bringing down your HQ early in the game.

evil and suicidal, just the way I like it! >

You know, Kalten, you could hardwire the BSF and get another system, sheild generator or whatever.

If the HQ has no weapons go with a Shas'El .

Shas'El Harmless
Drone Controller with 2 Marker Drones
Iridium Armor
Shield Generator
C&C Node
Stim Injector

=170pts

I smell another a UCTT article on the horizon...

This is actually a great idea, but I perfer my suits deadly to the last.

That being said,
C&C node
position Relay
Burst Cannon (not completly unarmed, but able to deal with small threats that come his way.

the squad they joim i believe also benifits.

BTW guys, half of your lists are illegal, you must take 3 battlesuit weapons or support systems, not wargear. Sorry mates.

All those things ARE support/weapon systems. How about Retro thrusters instead of BF.

I figured I'd stay away from the enemy slightly...but I like your style! ^-^

Oops, Toast master is right, blacksun filters are pointless with that setup (along with mine :) and they don't translate to other squads you join.

BUT....

If these Comanders WERE legal, they WOULD need 3 support systems, and seeing as my comander only has two, so for the sake of legality I could throw on the blacksun filter just to make the moddel legal, noone said it had to work right, just that it's in the parameters of the army list and that it has no weapons(pre-say, unless you count drones as weapons)
