Default pimp it out or leave it stock?- best gear for Devilfish and Railheads

I got 1 railhead and 1 fish.

if i use the fish for FW's what's the best gear to take?
if i had 2 for a Double FoF tactic which gear is best
if i use it for pathfinders, should i go all out or leave it stripped?

also, other than the ubiquitous decoy launcher, what should you put on a railhead?

oh yeah, almost forgot-3 skimmer team of piranhas all with fusion blasters: bother with gear, if so what?

any and all feedback will be appreciated.

Railhead: Decoy Launcher and Multitracker without question, possibly Target Lock if points are available.

Devilfish: Decoy Launcher

Piranha: Fusion Blaster and Targeting Array.

Anything else would be situational.

LIke khanaris said... your mainstays are the decoy and target lock...

everything else is dependent on who you are playing.

A fast nid army of CC doom? Take a Flechette Discharger... quite handy and always pays for itself.

Tank heavy SM's or guard? Take sensor spines as well... cant hurt to be obscured.

I personally favor the flechettes as the Nids i play really hate my tanks... and invariably cant help themselves to a few CC hits on them... its nice to watch them take a few back

Question: Is there any reason that you don't take a multi-tracker on the devilfish?

All the other sugestions I understand, I just wondered why no MT on Fish!

well I don't have ANYTHING on yet, that why the post-to get advice on the best loadouts for different duties. I wont be kitting it out the same way for FW's as for PF's I don't think, so I wanted other's thoughts berfore I made anything permanent.

Just cost, really. The question was about stock gear. If I was using the SMS on the Devilfish, or if I had spare points at the end, I would definitely give it a multi-tracker.

Hammerhead: Multi Tracker, Decoy Launchers, Target Lock (I NEVER leave home without these)
Devilfish: Decoy Launchers, Optional: Targeting Array, Multi Tracker (depending on what points you have to spare)

Now as for the pathfinders devilfish Ive been considering what to do with this for some time and Ive come to the thought that it would make a nice missil boat. Especially since the Pathfinders shouldnt need it much for transport an SMS, Targeting array, multi tracker and decoy launchers might make it quite effective as its own little tank since you must bring it anyway and allow it to stay in sight more for when you need to deep strike.

I run what i call the "175pt special" on my hammerheads. Railgun, 2 burst cannons, multi tracker, target lock, decoy launcer, disruption pod

Personally I play a mech army. I always run my devilfish with decoy launchers and multi tracker. Its a bit expensive but it makes them fairly effective gunboats and they have a good amount of survivability.
Currently I'm experimenting with giving my Devilfish Disruption pods, but this is an experiment.

For my pathfinders I go all out on their fish because
a) most of the time they won't be in it
b) it can start on board in escalation games.

The configuration I use for my pathfinder fish is Smart misiles, decoy launchers, multi tracker and targetting array.

It costs 50% more than the base devilfish but its capable of moving 12" a turn and firing 7 BS 4 shots. I've only used it in one game so far but in that one game it was my only devilfish to survive the battle and it did a lot of damage.

I only use one DF at present...and it's a 120 point gunship. smart missiles, d-pod, d-launcher, t-array. 7 S5 shots at BS4, and it's not much easier to kill than a 'head. but 120 points is fine for one skimmer...if I ran 3 or more fish, I couldn't afford that!
