Default Would you help me out on a decision?

Alright, heres whats going on. I have a pathfinder squad of 8, two are armed with rail rifles. Of course they have the compulsory Devilfish (with SMS and Decoy Launchers). I also have a Sky Ray (with SMS and Decoy Launchers). I was thinking the pathfinders would mark targets for the sky ray, while maybe killing some on their own with the rail rifles. All this (not including the Devilfish, because if I DO decide to take out the pathfinders and sky ray, I'll leave that for my fish-less Fire Warrior squad) Comes out to... 266 points? Do you think that is worth it? My main oppenents are Space Marines (Black Templars, Daemonhunters, and Witch Hunters)

If I DO decide to take that out, I think I'll add another Railgun-SMS-Hammerhead (with Decoy Launchers and a Multi-tracker) and another Broadside to my Broadside squad.

It really depends on how you play and what your opponents armies are like.......... maybe if you clarify............

My main opponent uses 3 tanks usually (sometimes, rarely, two though) which are ALWAYS a predator, usually a LR Crusader, and then maybe another predator or the thing with the short stubby cannon...

He has a big Black Templars command squad, as I like to call it, which usually consists of the Emperor's Champion, Geraldus or whatever, and a bunch of sword brethren and other lesser people...

The rest are usually nothing too special, maybe a terminator squad, but usually just tactical squads...

If it is a 1500 point game, I would say that having pathfinders and a skyray are better replaced by killing units. They are "Butter" units, things that make your army function smoother by adding a bit of versatility. In a 1850 or 2000 point game, I could see how these units could definitely be worth it.

aganst those armies i might suggest stockpiling ap3 weapons (sniper drones and vespid) for reliable MEQ dropping.
