Default Rathfinder rail rifles...

before any one starts, I use pathfinders, and to good effect. and with the new rules for markerlights they just got a lot better. now having said that the question that I have is, is it worth it in general to upgrade to having three rail rifles in my pathfinders units. on one hand I have two units and ten markerlight hits seems like it would be good enough. plus it allows you to pin an enemy, and its a MEQ popper. on the other hand it reduces the number of markerlights that I have to fire with, and I can't use the markerlights to make the rail rifles more effective (at least not the first units).

also if I do use the first units markerlight hits to make the second pathfinders have a better BS its wasted on the second units markerlights.

I have the models to run them in my army, but i'm waffling on wether or not I should. so I thought I would ask all of you what you're ideas on them are.

If your using that many PFs, and your facing the right opponent, then its probably worth it. I only use one team at the most, so losing those 3 marklights is bad. Instead I'd go with the new sniper drone team for rail rifles.

I do, but i also have two squads of pathfinders so I'm not in worry for losing the marker lights, plus they have a target lock.

Nope, you can't do that. Now if you want to give the 'Ui a drone controller and two marker drones... you can do that.

I doubt it. Unless of course it specifically mentions that the shas'ui can take it, as it does for fusion blasters in the stealth entry.

As a general rule squad leaders cant take squad weapon upgrades

I don't recall that the teamleader can take a fusion in the stealth team. I'm pretty sure it just said that one in three could take it. I'll have to check on that.

i have actually found that a unit of 5 ML and 3RR pathfinders is enough. This unit shoots seekers, aims for my stealth and FW squads and XV8s, all the while putting out long-range high damage pinning shots, which if used as diffraction fire can pin 1 unit quite reliably, or if concentrated can cause 1-2 almost guaranteed kills against those dangerours targets (infiltrating marine vets hmm...... tasty)
