Default Devilfish question

If you were to put two 'must have' upgrades on your Devilfish, what would they be?

Top of the list is the decoy launcher, since it's cheap and effective. Generally, I trick out my Devilfish as gunboats, adding SMS, Multi Tracker, and Targeting Array. They all work together to make the Devilfish far more effective shooting. I'm considering adding the Disruption Pod, to help with FOF tactics and surviving the first turn. It seems better than the Sensor Spines, and cheaper.

Multi tracker and decoy launchers.

Usually these are the only two upgrades I give my fish.

It keeps em fairly cheap overall and makes them into useable gunboats that are difficult to kill.

The muti tracker ensures you can keep moving, making you harder to damage and still letting you keep up your rate of fire, and combined with the decoy launchers makes your transport quite durable.

I'm with Falstead on this; Multi-tracker and Decoy Launchers.

If I went the 'gunship' SMS track then I would have Multi-tracker and Target Lock. You would probably need to add more Vehicles Armoury options to go with 'gunship' option. But you asked for two so That is how I would go.

There have been some good topics lately on this sort of feature. Vehicles armoury add-on have a more wider selection now and are not just aimed at Devilfish but all vehicle options available to the Tau.

My three (I know you asked for two but I always have three if the points allow) would be Targeting Array, Multi Tracker, and Decoy. Shoots, runs, and dies hard, my kind of guy. In my kamikazi unit I add a flechette. I really love these toys.

I agree with Crisis541, that's the way I run my devilfish. The only other option is to give them no upgrades, or just decoy launchers. But that's kinda dumb when you start out with an 80 point transport anyway...

It's hard not to overload sometimes. I used to run 3 of these hundred point devilfish along with two commanders. That was just way too much, 500 non-scoring points - a quarter of my army! That would be easy to do with SMS gunboats overloaded with upgrades. And no matter how much stuff you give your fish, it's still only armor 12-11-10. Opponents love to take these things down, and if you dump more points into them you're just asking for trouble. Especially if they become an annoyance, which they WILL with the SMS.

But enough... I haven't even run any SMS fish yet, and I don't want to pollute the thread.

I usually just run them with the decoy launcher. Im freakin cheap that way. When i run a fully mechanized list I'll probably give them the new disruption pod

So...NOBODY uses the sensor spines? They didn't look all that effective to me but I've been out of WH40K for awhile.

Well if you could only put two on, it's the MT and DL hands down. That being said I always take MT, DL, SMS, TA.

my fish are often un-uppgraded.haah! but seeing how usefull some uppgrades can be,i may consider at least getting a decoy launcher on it.maybe multi tracker too. the SMS hmm,maybe one fish to have it,pathfinder fish maybe
