normally against my necron adversary, he targets my crisi suits with heavy destroyer guns, which of course can instant kill them, but if they miss or screw up somehow he normally just uses flayers or blasters which ive ignored quite a few hits of 'cos of the stims.
Also, i fought him with a tooled up shas'vre team leader,(gave him stims, shield gen and some of my other def equipts) and he managed to shrug off 6 heavy gauss cannon hits , 2 being taken by the shield drones (none died hehehe) but the stims saved me from quite a few high str but non instant kill weapons.
by the way, remember you only get instant killed IF you fail you're saves, so if you take;
2 shield drones, a shield gen and iriduim armour then its rather hard to kill you with a +2 armour save a +4 inv save and 2 little guys that catch bullets for you with their own little +4 inv saves, and since they mirror you're save they even have a +2 armour save making them kick ass.

my point is, against massed fire from medium str weapons ( bolters, gauss weapons, and most 'nid weapons) the stims have the capability to save you from quite a few wounds

i hope you guys know that iridium armour and thrusters are support systems, so if you want to take both, you'll be left with only 1 gun, keep that in mind.

Personally i think i AM gonna give my guy stims, cause when my suits get shot at with lascannons they're usually fine, but come the lasgun/bolter i always screw up my saves, so 10 points is a bit of a bargain.

i thought thrusters was a hard piont and iridum armour was wargear

Thrusters is a support system and the Iridium armour is a special issue wargear.

their both special issue, but for me i normally take 2 guns on a suit, so for me if i take the thrusters it means i cant take a shield gen. but im definately gonna give my commander stims and some other nice special issue stuff (for those of you who dont know, you can only have one of each special wargear)
