Default Bonding FW and PF -- Worth It?

I did look through the search.
But, I admit, I did not look through all 14 pages.

Has the board reached a consensus on this?

Under 40k 4th edition, is bonding worth it for Firewarrior and/or Pathfinders?

With such low inititive, it would seem that they would be run down and wiped out if they flee close combat most of the time.

So, is it 10 wasted points or well worth the 10 points?

in the new codex bonding works differently.

for 15 points you now get LD8 AND bonding, as you buy a bonding knife as equipment for the shas'ui, so its become cheaper and more effective and i am definately going to take it on my fire warriors squads.

I find that LD upgrades are ALWAYS usefull, and they always end up saving my ass, so for front-line squads i'd almost consider them mandatory.

I would say it depends on how important your unit is to your battle plans.

If you need them for major tasks in the game , bond them, if not dont.

Bonding is useful for front line squads that are going to take casualties. It can make the difference between a squad fleeing off the table or regrouping. For Pathfinders, the consensus seems to be that they are bullet magnets. They will take casualties.

Hmm, so DO model the bonding knife on those Firewarriors.

I hate those "model must have it" rules. It always erks me 'cause SOMEONE is going to come along and say, "omfgs, no nades! You can't equip those," or the converse, "Not everyone in that squad has a EMP grenade, you can't have any in your list."

The jury's still out on which option I should go with for a tournament army. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated.

if you have ways of not getting assaulted (FoF comes to mind) bonding for 5 pts is great if used along with Ld8. just remember to use maxed out squads.

cheers

I used to never bond. Now I always bond FW, stealth and BS teams. Others are rarely in dangers so not bonded.

Too often I've had non-scoring units regroup and take out a critical element, occupy a deadly unit for another turn, or simply add to shooting. it is worth it IMO.
