They are not mechanised, nor can they ever be; they don't have a transport.

They can keep up with a mechanised army, however.

How far can they move a turn? if 6 inches, they would be more static.

If 12 and up. they can keep up with the troops in a apc, main battle tanks. all battle suits, so they would fit in will with a mech force.

yea they can fly so i'd say they're definately mech as well.

Wargamer according to your logic crisis suits and stealth suits would also not be mech tau as they can't have transports either.

And they aren't.

"Mechanised" units are units that are mounted in a transport vehicle. Thus, logically, a "Mechanised" army is an entire army in transports. Most players who claim to be Mechanised are, in fact, Hybrid.

It is in fact impossible to take a fully mechanized Tau army in the new codex, by strict definition.

But a mech tau army is generally defined as either "everything can move 12+"" or "all fire warriors are in devilfish".

im torn right here in this argument. Wargamer has a very good definition but then everyone else has a nice rebuttle. in this argument i think ill side with wargamer and the strist definition. taking hybrid seems so much more friendly than mech :P

The Mech Bible defines a Mech Tau army as:
Quote:
Any units that can't infiltrate need to be equipped with Jump Packs or have gravitic capabilities like Devilfish APC's and Hammerhead Gunships.
Though I suspect the latter part just means that those units that can't infiltrate can potentially move 12" per turn. In which case vespids would be included anyway (that said, it needs some updating for the new codex).
