Default 50 pts on Embarrassment!

I almost forgot about this moment but I want to tell people about the danders of tank shock. I was playing against sisters of battle. The game was a pretty close one even though he was cheating since he was nominating his sister invul saves when I shot them with my crisis suits.

But the worst thing that happen to me and what won him the game was a little bitty rhino. I blew up it's weapon system and was flat out ignoring the unit. In my horror it did a lot of damage to me. First it tank shocked my pathfinders and they ran of the table. Than it tank shocked my 300+ pt crisis suit HQ and it ran off the table. I had another unit that would had rallied but it was 6" of that silly rhino. We figured that that rhino took out about 700 Pt's of my army. Needles to say after that I didn't play 40k in awhile.

Uh, sisters can get invulnerable saves. Divine Something.

You should have either
a) not cursed the dice gods so that you failed all your tank shock LD tests,
b) Killed it, Tau hate loose ends
c) checked whether or not the rhino is classed as a tank and so can tank shock, as I can't remember right now if it is/can.

Rhinos are indeed classed as Tanks, and Sisters can use Faith abilities to get an Invulnerable.

Always read your opponent's Codex.

He he tankshock can be nasty, when I play my Tau I always keep an eye on enemy transports nearing. Learned that the hard way when I first played against a Slanesh army, -3 ld and tank shock = bad news for troops. >

On the other hand the frontal armor or a rhino shouldn't be much of a problem to blast it before it comes too near

it happens though it's not usual to see a live rhyno after turn one or two...

specially when pulse rifles can take them out...

Never underestimate a desperate, crazed tank driver

If you think about it, tank shock is a guaranteed morale check, and tau armies that dont have shas'ui s or ethereals have a very mediocre LD.

Although the bit with the commanders squad kinda sux, why didnt you just death or glory on of your missile wielding suits? you automatically hit and have a good chance of stopping it.

True I should had death or glory on a 50 pt model and probably would had lost on suit. But rolling a 12 for a leadership check kinda put me in awe.

I left the stupid thing alone cause I was blowing up his other transports and the stupid organ looking things with all the fire power.

Also my pathfinders had a Ui in it for a higher leadership. That's why I think just 1 extra point for leadership for combat or morale checks is over rated. Unless you have a leadership of 8 or up than it's more worth it. For example if you have leadership 5 and it goes to a 6, big deal you'll probably fail anyway.

Also after that I switched dice. That's why I carry 3-4 differant assortment of dice on me.

This is what Ta'lissera is for.. I think. Is tank shock a leadership or moral test?
Anyway just tank shock them back with one of your devilfish. Tank shocking is one of the most fun things to do to a unit, especially one that is rather large close to their table edge. It's also good when high leadership enemies fail and run away. *Cough* Necron Warriors *Cough*

Tank shock is a moral check which I think is a tad annoying. Actually I could had death or glory with my pathfinders with rail guns ho hum. But I didn't expect them to run off the table though.

Well if you're right in saying that tank shock is a moral check and you're worried about being shocked then invest in an Ethereal or bond your squads. That way you'll have a much greater chance of staying on the board and blowing that damn rhino up.
