Default tau color scheme advice

any ideas for a colorful tau scheme that doesn't look like something from the old codex, I like to be different then what the boys at GW create. As the more and more I see the tau the more and more I wanna play em ....NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I could use the assistance

I was thinking maybe something colorful with a catachan green or a kommando khaki, maybe even terracotta. that way i have somewhat an idea of using camouflage while being bright and non caring as I'm a firewarrior I'm going to shoot the crap out of you right under the mid day sun or something like that. I've always wanted to implement Purple into an army it seems like a good color but yet tough to pull off never know quite what to use with other than yellow and i don't want to use that mostly cause i don't want my dudes looking like the L.A Kings from the '70s (if anyone remembers hockey back then)

a friend of mien has mentioned purple (which is as above a color Ive always wanted to use) with scorpion green , or dark angels green and fiery orange ( i don't like dark angels green ) so i came up with maybe Scaly green and fiery orange as i like scaly green

now given any of your guys advice please add what parts of a firewarrior and the drones should be colored which color anyway thanks in advance

get yourself a modeling catalog with real army models.

itīs an excellent place to get colour schemes since usually the colours of the real life soldierīs fatigues work nice together and you can see dozens of colour schemes at a time.

good luck

You might wanna try the painting board. =/ I hate painting, I just copied a color scheme from the codex so I knew it would look good.

Im using a camo/catachan green (armour) and a skorched brown(cloth) paint scheme with white details, which not only acts like camo, but its looks really good too.

Have a look at these by Thomas Schadle

Different from many of the usual schemes, also try googling "Tau" and look at the images you get, always a good way to find inspiration.

If you're looking to do any sort of camo pattern, I'd suggest doing that on the undercloth only and leaving the armour as plain colours. This makes it look less "OMG look how good I am I have camo".
The colours that you are suggesting seem to sound a bit.. cartoony. I think they are maybe just a little bit too contrasting. If you like purple, how about purple armour and white undercloth (Well, grey highlighted to white)?

Go to showcase, painting, or go with something that looks good drawn out.
