Default UCTT (Unconventional Tau Tactics)

Unconventional Tau Tactic!

Wargear of UCTT (I am using a UCTT at Gamesday)
EMP Grenades
Photon Grenades
Half Pulse Rifles (Ie out of 2 units 1 is rifles)
Half Carbine
Devilfish - Decoy launchers, and Flechettes

UCTT Units
Fire Warriors
Pathfinders
Skyray
Non A.S.S Broadsides
Commander
Crisis (TL Flamer+Plasma)
Piranhas
Vespids

UCTT
FoF-Vral -
Carbine Squad + at least 4 ML hits (+1 BS, -3 LD to pinning)
Fire, Pin, allow other units to get passed unharmed.
Use against:
Devistator Squads (And equivilants(sp)
Wraith
Assault Termies
Termies

FoF-D'ro -
Carbine/Rifle Squad (UCTT Set up) (If using Carbrines, recomend pinning so at least 3+ Mls hits)
Fire, either pin, or hopefully wipe out, then charge a Tank and EMP it next turn.
Anyting near a tank, (NOT SKIMMERS, AS THEY ARE TOO HARD TO HIT IN CC. LEAVE THEM FOR BROADSIDES)

Peek A boo! (Aka JSJ)
Tl flamers, Enemy hidding in cover
(best used in Cityfight)
Jump out then use your Tl flamers to burn them to a crisp with the good ol' reroll to wound
Anybody in cover other than jetpacked units as they will charge you next turn.

Needle Shock -
Empty DF, or Piranha with flechette dispensers.
Tank Shock the enemy off of objectives, key points, or high threat units need to be broken up for a turn.

Firewall
Piranhas, Unit of foot sloggers.
Send the piranhas as close to gether a possible to prevent assault to your Infantry. Use the Piranhas as shield, soaking uo anti-infanty fire and fire that could down your Devilfish, al the while protecting fire warriors, and killing everything in it's path.
Not really offensive, mainly defensive.

Shotgun
Like Needle Shock, but using Devilfish to cover flanks.
Use the Piranha inbetween two devilfish, then once within 24 inches of your enemy, shotgun them up to a tankshok, to throw the enemy into disarry, while the devilfish aproch to spewforth their lethal contance.

Tip the scale
Fire Warriors, better with Carbines, after firing, throw themselves at the enemy to stop them form getting the upper hand. Then you get the +1 Attack, and give the enemy one heck of a scare! Now I know your saying assault!?! is he crazy (well yes actually, :P ) but remember, they have been softened up by generally 3 turn of S5 shooting, I doubt they will casue too much damage to your Fire warriors,
ALT-
Use drones, as thier higher I will give them an advantage, and gain more territory in a Sweeping advance.

Crouching Pathfinder Hidden Skyray
Skyray, Pathfinders.
Hit target with ML, launch seeker barrage. With SMS, the Skyray will NEVER be met with return fire. (Not TOO UCTT, but helpful none the less)

If you support UCTT, put it in your sig!

Sorry for double posting, but I have the rest of the UCTT

Double Firewall
Firewall, with 1 more unit of 5 Piranahas
set up like so
P P P P P

12 inches
P P P P P
FWS

So every turn the Piranhas change up, Giveing them the Skimmers moving fast rule.

Disruptor (Static)
Piranha Unit, Fire Warriors
Once the enemy is within 24 inches, the range of thier guns, and the Piranhas tank shock!
Break them or scatter them, either way they arenot doing any shooting next turn, so move the Fire warriors back 6 inchs, puting 30 between them and the enemy

Disruptor (Mech)
Fire Piranhas as stated before in the other form to a unit you are about to FoF, FoF Vral, FoF D'ro, so they cannot shoot back.

Insta terrian.
Not really advisable, but usful in the right situation.
Move an empty Devil fish to point you need cover at, then sit it thier untill they kill it, and id you shoot at stuff, they will shoot back.

Sluggaz
Non A.S.S Broadsides w/ target lock
hid them near some terrian, and wiat for the enemy to get close, then let it rip. (Not really pure UCTT, but good enough i guess)

Vaporizer
Devilfish (full or not, doesnt matter, though full will ad som fun to the game) , Vespids.
Keep the vespids behind to Devilfish, making in harder to target be cause of nearest rule, then once in range, jump the vespids out, and lit it rip!

Fast Response Teams
Vespids. 2+ Ml hits
An enemy gets within 24 inches, and you send the vespids out 12 inches, and rthier gun shoot is the same distance, with Mls, that makes it very hard fro a unit of Meqs to live if you have a full unit (12 I think).

Note On pych. warfare.
Do stuff the would never expect from Tau. Charge Get close ect.
Bright and obscene colours
Listen to Metal while playning a nonmetal person (I am a non-metal person)
Keep talking ot them, but not offensive, or annoying, just idol chit-chat, and you migh make them miss an oppertunity.

UcTT Army Components
Rear Gurad ->
This should be 1/4 to 1/3 of your force. They are at the back of your deplyment zone, and hold it. they are also Rapid reponse teams, so if something bad happens, move to give aid.
Rear Guard units:
Sniper Drones
Sky Ray
Hammerhead - Railhead

Objective Claimers ->
These are the fast boys. They zip up and claim Objectives, and ward off any attack on objectives.
Claimer Units:
Piranhas
Vespids

Shredders ->
Shredders are unit that butcher anything with a 5+ save.
Shredder units:
Fire Warrior
Kroot
Piranha
Devilfish
Gundrones
Stealth Suits

Bashers ->
Bashers are anything that butchers units with 3+ saves.
Basher units are:
Sniper Drones
Hammerheads - Ion head
Plasma Weilding Crisis Suits
Vespids (dont expect them to live to see your next turn though)
Seeker Missile
en-mass Shredders

Squashers ->
Squashers are the bad boys with the power to crush 2+ saves. We have few.
Squasher Units:
Plasma Crisis
Fusion Crisis
Hammerhead - Railhead (not too cost effective)

UcTT Army constrution.
There are 3 types of UcTT
Defensive -> (Static Hybrid) -> 1/3 Rear Guard, 1/4 Shredders, 1/5 Bashers, 1/5 Squashers
Offensive -> (Mech Hybrid) -> 1/4 Claimers, 1/2 Mounted Shreaders, 1/8 Squashers, 1/8 Bashers
Balanced -> (Hybrid Hybrid) -> 1/4 Rear Guard, 1/4 Shreaders, 1/4 Claimers, 1/8 Bashers, 1/8, Squashers

Those guide line have brought me to Victory many times.

PS every time I said tank shock with piranhas I mean with 1, you cannot tank shock with a unit can you?

You cannot tankshock with a unit that is not a tank. I think this excludes Pirahnas.

Perhaps this isn't quite as explicitly stated as it should be, but I'll refer you to page 70 of the 4th ed. Rulebook:

Tanks can overrun enemy units during their movement phase. ... During their movement phase, a player can declare that a tank is going to attempt to Tank Shock an enemy unit.
This refers to Tanks, not vehicles.

And now I'll refer to the new Tau Empire codex, page 39.

That is exactly true.

Piranhas are not tanks and so cannot Tank Shock. I phoned GW and they told me that.

Although they can be given fletchette launchers right?? Which allows them to tank shock? Am I correct in saying this?
