Entire units firing at bs4 or one guy firing at bs5. I'll take the first one.

before it was only 1 wepaon hitting on 2+ no cover. now you apply bonuses to the team. it stop the horid effects of markerlight submission but also makes it worth while markerlighting for others

The old version of the markerlight was one weapon got bs5 and no coversaves allowed, as stated above. Handy and even preferential in some cases, i.e. submunitions vs horde in woods? You'll need 4 ML hits to get that effect now. But for teams two ML will give the whole unit BS5 rather than just two weapons.

I prefer then the way they are now, with a range of benefits and uses, before they were only useful on high-power weapons [PR, Railgun, etc] shooting high value targets [Tanks, IC's, etc]. They can still be used this way, but now you have the option of firewarriors opening a can on enemy hordes too. BS5 pulserifles vs hormagaunts > I think so.

New marker light rules allow no cover save...heeheehee ;D. Mind you you have to choose one effect, but pathfinders will be formidable now as they are accumulative.

you can stack markerlight hits/ effects now.
so, two markerlights hit one target- one of your units (not individual models, units) now hits that target on 2+

Increase BS, ignore cover saves, bypass target priority or ignore night fight rules. Can be combined. As i said, Pathfinders truly will be formidable now.

What the new rules essentially do is make Pathfinders preferable to single models with markerlights, and also make it less likely that markerlight hits will be wasted. It also makes them more of a general-purpose item, since they can help squad shooting just as well as Heavy Support.
